That’s completely false. Other Asian artists charted on Billboard. A Japanese song went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the 1960s.

The first Asian act to go #1 on the Hot 100 was Japanese singer Kyu Sakamoto with "Ue o Muite Arukō" (aka "Sukiyaki") in 1963. Even though I truly believe it deserved to chart here, "Snow in the Sahara" did not chart on the Hot 100. It charted on some sub-charts (Dance/Club and Adult Top 40 radio).

yes the 90" were different then the 80" as the 00" are different ... but yes music from 90 untill 2003-4 was very innocent compared to the still heavy influenced rock metal 80" and the porno music from the 00' 10".... just immagine venga boys or aqua today or in the 80" .. it is going to be total system failture

I could never remember the name of this song or who it was that sang it! Brings me back to my time as a 22 year old back in 1997. This song was ahead of it's time.
