Oregon Coast Lingcod Fishing and Rock fishing turns into a Lingcod Catch and Cook. This is Day 2-3 of a 6 day solo I trip I took to the Oregon Coast, camping out of my SUV and on the hunt for Lingcod.
If you missed day 1 check out this link here so you can get caught up!
• Rock Fishing The Orego...
Day 2 of rock fishing, I was able to find some accessible areas that were putting out the fish, and it made for another amazing day of fishing. By the end of the day I had landed multiple Lingcod and countless Black Bass from the cliffs.
At the end of the day I find another great spot overlooking the Oregon Coast new Newport and cook up a nice slab of lingcod in the cast iron skillet.
Day 3 was some slow fishing with a few black bass caught, and some nice ones at that, but my target is Lingcod this time around. I did manage to hook another huge lingcod but it came off as I was making my way to a better area to land it. I'm pretty sure I lost this beast of a fish 4 days in a row.
I was mainly casting 3-4" swimbaits and grubs on 1/2oz - 3/4oz jigheads..
I found that my most successful setup was a Texas rigged grub on an offset Gamakatsu hook with 1/2 - 3/4oz Bullet weight
There will be a lot more Rockfish videos to come as spring progresses and I will also be transitioning back to targeting Chinook and Coho Salmon in our local rivers.
STAY TUNED!

NW Fishing Secrets - oh man I was so stoked it was following it. So many times I’ve caught rockfish that way. If they hit it but don’t commit, you always have a chance of them smashing it again. I just saw you put out another video. I need to do some catching up. This was probably one of my longest solo trips. I ended up heading home on day 6 when EVERYONE decided to storm the beaches and seal our fate with closures

Cleanest, sweetest fish I've ever caught. When I used fo fish off norther Cal and caught lingcod, it was always a treat to cook the filets with olive oil, salt, lemon, lemon pepper, butter and baked in foil. Always came out so flaky and sweet. No fishy taste. If thr filets are extra thick, I slice it to make a pocket and stuff it with mushrooms, olives, onions and cook as above. Oh so good.

Doug Covert lol I figured you were but it also brings up a good point. It’s harder to measure accurately with this type of tape measure. Andrey Kudryashov - anytime! I hope that helps. I made an edit a few minutes ago... changing 4” grubs to 6” bigger baits are supposed to be better but I had no problems with this size from shore

Andrey Kudryashov - I think it’s always good to have a selection but green pumpkin should always be part of your Arsenal. I just ordered, black, white, chartreuse and some that resemble a kelp greenling and rock greenling. I’m just now starting to figure out the whole lingcod fishing from shore thing myself.

AnglingAddictsPNW , Berkeley power bait jerk bait, put it on a half ounce jighead. Mullet color! You’ll slay everything in those waters.

You are putting a lot of line twist on the reel.
@AnglingAddictsPNW

Blktailhunter53 - i do that A LOT. It’s never been an issue for me though... and when it comes to a ling running for the rocks, line twist is the last of my worries.

No the blue color comes from biliverdin. It's comes from the bile and somehow mixes with the blood serum in a small percentage of ling's. It's perfectly safe but even the biologists can't explain why it happens.

@@aaronriutzel2231 Blue lings are due to their diet. They get this color mostly from kelp crab.
