Jetty Fishing & Rock Fishing. This "how to" covers Jetty Fishing Rigs / Rock Fishing Rigs, and jetty fishing tips that will CATCH you more rockfish from the jetty.. Whether Rock fishing from a jetty, a pier, or from the beach, you will find a rock fishing rig that works for you.
One thing that I noticed early on in my fishing years was that a lot of the time when I first started a new fishery I would find the fishing setup that I felt comfortable with and would basically stick with that one rig. When it comes to fishing the ocean, beach, jetty, etc. we have an incoming tide, slack tide, and an outgoing tide. These tide fluctuations can make fishing a bit more difficult unless you know multiple rigs, how to fish them, and when to fish them.
These are the 7 rigs that I use most when im out rock fishing on the Oregon coast. Between jigs with grubs, swimbaits, bait rigs, bottom fishing rigs, there are a lot of known approaches to this fishery but there are also a lot of ways that you can modify these rigs to catch you even more fish.
If you are wondering how to fish from a jetty, or just looking to expand your fishing knowledge, This is the video for you. I will show you how to tie these jetty fishing setups, how they can be modified, as well as show you how to fish with them. East Coast, West Coast, these rock fishing rigs are universal and can be used for a magnitudes of different species. Considering I am typically fishing the Oregon coast, I usually use these fishing rigs for Black Bass, Kelp Greenling, Surfperch, Lingcod as well as many other potential rockfish in the area.
Berkley Gulp Swim Baits 3" amzn.to/3ZGA7Z3
I'm shooting this video from Barview jetty in Garibaldi, which is just north of Tillamook on the Oregon coast.

Jacob Gray - Anytime! I’m happy to hear the videos help. This is probably the most informative jetty I’ve put out yet. If you can’t find fish with one rig there’s usually another one that will get it done. The simple bait rig ALWAYS produces fish

Great video! One more tip on the worm weight, I always keep some tooth picks in my weight box to peg the weight under certain conditions. You do the rig just as you did, then poke the tooth pick into the hole in the weight nice and tight then break it off. You can then slide it tight to the hook or further up the leader depending on your conditions. Keep breathing

Thank you! I'm definitely going to try some of these techniques this weekend. I'll be fishing up by Jenner trying to go for a ling off the shore. This is a whole new ball game for me, having grown up fishing trout in the Siskiyou area. A lot more skin in the game for sure. Losing a rig hurts quite a bit more! I'm hoping to minimize the losses with these hook set ups. Thank you again!

Going out to Long Beach for 8 days in a few weeks. This was a good scenic display of rigs for that area. Rig tying with a tabletop background is not as inviting as the backdrop of water and mountains on a clear day. Sorry about the tackle trickle in the stones. It was also inclusive of everything except a bobber for the riverside. Probably looking for something silver with that technique anyway. Great concise video. Thanks.

Thanks for the sub! haha ya it took me a while to start putting things together. I was always just focusing on getting the one rig i knew to work all the time and in all conditions. Once i realized there are endless ways to approach this fishery the pieces started connecting. there is always a rig for the specific condition that may be more effective. I'm looking forward to getting back out this spring. I feel like i'm still learning a lot every time i get out . Exploring is definitely time consuming but it has it's perks in the long run. Google maps is a great tool. Thats what helped me plan my first lingcod fishing trip which was a total success. Thanks for watching! hope the video helps up your fishing game

I agree. I think my time spent fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass made it easy to take some of those same techniques and apply them to saltwater fishing. It’s a lot of fun

I always do same loop for sinkers. So convenient and not flopping and banging / tangling around while carrying rods.
