The Carolina IV song has a whole concept behind it. The album of the second song is Holy Land which is centered on the discovery of Brazil theme. During the times of the discovery of America and Brazil, many big sailing ships were sent to find new land but only a few actually found anything. Carolina IV would be the name of a fictitious ship which never actually found land so the whole song centers around the ship. On the beginning, good prayers are sent for the ship as is sails away, then the song gets speed with the good vibrations and good intents of a new crew excited about the new adventure. by the middle of the song, they have lost some sailors, lose the hope of finding a new land. On the piano solo they have lost all hope and don't seem to find anything. when it speeds up, the remaining sailors start to realize they are going to die and that's what happens to them... as the song ends, new prayers, new hope, a new ship is about to sail into the deep blue to find new land. a good tip so they dont strike your videos is to put the audio playing on a stereo on the back instead of adding it to the video itself. R.I.P. Andre.

The former guitarist by Angra is Called Kiko Loureiro and now is the current guitarist from Megadeth! Carolina IV is a song about the Discovery of Brazil during the great navigations of Portugal. Carolina IV is the name of a ficticious ship that desapeared in the middle of The Atlantic Ocean during an exploration trying to arrive here. In the end of the song, another squad is sended to explore the ocean and try to conclude the mission that started with Carolina IV. This new squad was the one that discorved Brazil led by Pedro Álvares Cabral. The full album is based on the history of the colonization of Brazil and the music have a lot of elements from brazilian traditional music.

your reaction of Carolina IV got it right: the sunset, the nature and so on.. the whole "Holy Land" album is about the discovery of our beautiful country: Brazil. The instruments are ethnical ones, the drumming, the flute, the tempo.. etc. Backing vocals are singing ethnical religious words also. Very very very brazilian stuff rip Andre Matos

You've found 'Caroline IV' very different because Angra liked to mix brazilian regional rhytms into their heavy metal lines. Angra is one of the best metal bands ever and Andre Matos will be forever here through his legacy. =']

CAROLINA IV: "The musical arrangements of "Holy Land" are influenced by Brazilian music and culture, with references to the Indians and their folklore, and in the case of "Carolina IV" a little African culture. It also has classical arrangements, symbolizing Europe at that time. In letter terms (speaking of the album as a whole) they address the effects of the discovery on the natives; the glimpse and the challenges that the sea voyages entailed; the fascination of the new world; the folklore and the indigenous culture of the time, etc.". YAY you guys did it, yes! #painintheask Okay so I think by the Angra reactions you guys made now you have an idea of how they sounded with their first singer André Matos, now we can go to the second phase of Angra with their second vocalist Edu Falaschi, my recommendations would be The Shadow Hunter(from their 5th album, second with Edu, Temple of Shadows, from 2004) and Nova Era from the first album with Edu, Rebirth, 2001. Thank you for the birthday wishes, I really appreciate it!! I ate my favorite food which it was Stroganoff and it was delicious

I agree with you that they should react to Angra's second era. Edu's era also has some amazing songs such as Rebirth, Nova Era, Unholy Wars, Temple Of Hate, Angel's and Demons, Spread Your Fire, The Course Of Nature, and Arising Thunder. Angra has become one of my favorite bands these past few months. The last time a band had a huge impact on me the way Angra does right now is over twenty years ago when I first heard Iced Earth. I have been listening to Angra and bands that have a connection with them such as Viper, Shaman, Symfonia, and Almah everyday for the past four months. All of them are PHENOMENAL to me.

#MetalChickPick Thanks to react, first music Carry on is one of the biggest anthems of the band, although it is from the first album where they were still raw musically. Carolina IV is the second album Holy Land, that is conceptual and deals with Brazil in 1500, when it was discovered by the Portuguese, having a great influence of Brazilian music and culture mixed with the traditional Metal, and also with opera, symbolizing the music of Europe at the time . It's a very rich album and I would love for you to react to it, but Angra is a band with three bands and it would be nice to meet the other two vocalists and different bands. The intro of Carolina IV is related to a religion with African roots, called candomblé (Wich is similar to voodoo, but is a religion not just ""black magic"""), and some folks ritms of Brazil's Northeast, called maracatu, and that's what made angra so unic, they use all kind of Brazilian music influences in a genre that purely European as power metal. I as a Brazilian metal-head love it! Is my culture, mixed with my favorite musical style wisely.

Finally some brazilian heavy metal in this heavy metal reacts! As a brazilian I thank you so much for this! Angra is a awesome band. In every formation. Carolina IV is one my all time musics, It's from the album Holy Land that talk's, directly or indirectly, about the history of Brazil's discovery. Carlina IV begins with some brazilian music and the chanting in portuguese about Iemanjá, a Orixa (a type a God or saint in the african-brazilian religion/mith), in the english part the name "Carolina IV" is the name of a boat (caravela) that never gets to its destiny. The whole album is full of brazilian music mixed with heavy metal.

As a brazilian band, Angra fully embrace their roots and always find a way to implement some sort o cultural aspect to their songs. The rhythmic intro to Caroline IV is a kind of tribal drums from the indians that still live in Brazil. Later on the same track, you can hear a part that resembles brazilian music called "bossa nova".

Many thanks for the Angra reaction. Specially because you guys has choose two of the most rated music of the first band formation. André Matos is the vocalist and Carry On is one of the most listened music from Angra. Carolina IV is one of the beautiful Angra's music. The Chorus on the beginning of Carolina IV is such a evocation for Iemanjá which is a mithological brazilian Queen of the Sea. Follow the lyrics: "Salve, salve Iemanjá, Salve Janaína E tudo o que se fez na água Jogam flores para o mar Deus salve a Rainha E o meu passo nessa esfera... Um caboclo de orixás Logo deixa a Terra Vai de encontro à sua sina Onde o céu encontra o mar Achará seu porto E é assim que isso termina..."

When you react to the guitar solo saying "that's hot" I just thought... "Well, that's why he is playing on Megadeth now". Carolina IV is amazing... When you said that it was very creative... Well, yeah! It's an amazingly creative composition. Andre Matos was a genius!! And Carry on is a happy anthem capable to take you out from your darkest place...

#painintheask I really like the vocalist of Angra from these albums Andre Matos, but if you want to see the best of him, meet the band Shaman, formed by three former members of this first Angra formation, there Andre sings more strongly and torn beyond the treble. Shaman - For Tomorrow and Innocence You two are beautiful, a very cute couple.

Not sure if I agree. Angra with Andre had a more consistent output of great songs. Shaaman was a bit generic, only a few songs really stood out.

The first Angra’s concert I went to was 1994 - Monsters of Rock, in São Paulo. They are considered here in Brazil as the brazilian Dream Theater. Incredible band. You need listen to their last album called ØMNI guys. Believe me, it’s a masterpiece.

As a Brazilian guy that loves heavy metal and lives abroad, this is amazing. Not only these songs are insanely good, makes me me feel closer to home. Thanks for this. I saw them live in 96 in Sao Paulo Brasil, when they opened for AC/DC, both bands kicked ass. Since you enjoyed both songs, I strongly suggest listening to their first two albums in your own time, Angels Cry and Holy Land.

Actually the whole Fireworks álbum is a masterpiece, with songs like Speed, Lisbon and Machine of Mistery. The best work of the band in this formation.

Hi guys, i searched angra i landed in your video . and i heard you great reaction to Angra 23 mar 19. Did you know that the vocalist of Angra "Andre Matos" died last weed in 8 june 2019. Brazil is still Mourning this great singer!!

Man, I've been listening this song for the last 15 or more years and it's amazing to find someone who feels Carolina IV the same way I do after so many years. It's an amazing song and an amazing album. By the way, that initial and final vocal line is in Portuguese in case you don't know ;) Great video again guys. Like a musical safari...haha. Nicely put.
