If you want to get three stars in the races with blueprints you don't have to crash. Choose karts that don't break down easily like the upgraded Tar Barreller for the ice road the upgraded big burner for the Rocky Road. Take advantage of the the power-up that repairs your kart automatically.

The 3 star formula is as follows:[Coins collected X (how much they're worth, I think it's 100)] + placement bonus - [time of event completion in seconds X 5] - [number of crashes X (how much they're worth as well, which I also think is 100)] I don't know what the exact values are for coins and crashes but that's the formula that determines your final score. Essentially, you have to be very fast, finish in the top bracket, find the most efficient coin collecting route, and not wreck. Each track has a threshold for how many points you need for 3 stars but with the formula in mind you'll somewhat know what to do.

The crashing damage you take from jumps pretty much ruins the game imo.

Pay attention to your wheels(Skis for Snow) and you will see them break before you spin out

Have you started stage 9? These stages require karts of at least 170 cc, and the current karts can only be maxed to 140 cc.
