Angry birds go 2.0 feels like drinking orange juice after brushing your teeth.

I really don't get why they didn't have ice bird as an unlockable character for subzero. Not only would've it been a great nod to AB Space, but it would just literally be perfect and really cool y'know

Let's just all agree that Angry Birds GO! 1.8.7 was the best version of Angry Birds GO!

Fun fact: In 2.0, after you get all your tickets, select 'Retry with Boost' and you will get extra tickets. That's not all, though! Keep pressing 'Retry with Boost' after the extra races to get infinite tickets. The ads cause a major downside with it though.

I remember this, and I got over 9,000 Gems from the game. This update was the most controversial for little kid me, and it still pains me to this day.

One part i really liked about the old version was the physics. The way the karts would react because of it. So when I was going fast like in stunt. it really sold it to me on how fast i was moving.

this "update" was more of a DOWNGRADE than anything

It's so annoying how everything got nerfed and simplified. I loved how much livelier the old version felt.

So, basically, in a nutshell, 2.0 transformed the original ABGO, to a grindy game, into a P2W game.

This is without a doubt one of the most interesting videos I've watched this year. I love pre-2.0 but to no one's surprise I hate 2.0 and above. It made me leave Angry Birds from 2017 - 2020, but I came back because of Angry Birds Reloaded in 2021 which was a fantastic game in my opinion. Playing Pre-2.0 gave me memories that I will cherish forever. I was always excited to see which character I would beat next. I remember when I didn't know what to do and I racked up like a million coins and then when I finally figured out what to do I spent so much on upgrades. Even upgrading felt nice as it felt like putting money in a shelf to make your kart better. Also the multiplayer mode was interesting. For some reason there was a kart that costed 8 coins in an update which was interestiong. The treehouse was another amazing thing in this game. I remember when I ran out of energy I just watched the characters sleep to replenish their energy and it was really wholesome. Honestly I didn't really have a problem with the energy system because it gives you a reason to try out the other characters. But now in 2.0, all that charm is thrown out the window. Upgrading is rigged and excessively complicated, the progression is made so linear, the energy system is shared so you're better off playing the Blues instead of Red and Forman Pig instead of Matilda since they're pretty much upgrades of the character they're better than. Multiplayer is gone, the treehouse, underground place with the karts and the wooden boards with the levels on them are gone and the menus look like they were made for a speedrunning contest to see who could make the menu the fastest. That said, this video told me stuff I didn't know originally, like the bad drifting and inconsistent CC balance. R.I.P Angry Birds Go Pre-2.0 (2013-2016)

I remember re-downloading the app without knowing about 2.0 but having played it a couple years ago. I re-downloaded it in about 2017 and I just deleted it after an hour.

1:40 If they were going to make 2.0, they shouldve made it a sequal to angry birds go like angry birds go 2. It probaly wouldve made them more money and make fans less angry

In 1.0 the races were like at the same speed and some of them goes faster, the player goes faster, or even all the karts just crashes at each other. While in 2.0 we got nothing but ahead of them if we get high cc and if we get low cc, the karts and the bots goes so fast that you couldn’t beat it.

I’m glad that back then I wasn’t the only one who was upset by that update. The original angry birds go was my favourite mobile racing game back then, and for them to just change it was just…

I hate it how corporal pig has a cool down because in 1.0 using all 3 would make him like a speed up kart like chuck but unfortunately now in 2.0 we got a boring power up and a cool down from corporal pig.

I agree huge time! It completely ruined the game by being a pay to win, using blueprints to upgrade cars, and removes the multiplayer feature. Therefore, 2.0 turned the best Angry Birds game into a pay to win nightmare.

Remember also when the birds and pigs were sleeping on a tree? Good times.

If the game was still being updated and doesn't used the 2.0 mechanics Some new characters would be added Chef pig: Heals the kart himself and gives a speed boost itself for 15 second Lawyer pig: Mutes every bird or pig ability and makes him invulnerable for 7 seconds Minion pig: Creates a clone of himself that will block any bird or pig that it's near him Silver: Do a quick dash that will destroy anything that is on the way (birds and pigs will be knocked instantly out of the kart) Melody (Secret code character): Sucks up to 4 birds or pigs while obstacles are inf, after that she spits the birds or the pigs at blazing speeds that will always hit a wall and be knocked out instantly off the kart Mechanic pig: Can repair 5 times the kart itself while gaining invincibility, speed boost and also smacking 3 random birds or pigs in the race with a giant screwdriver

I literally related to EVERYTHING you said in this video, it's actually so awesome to know people still care about this game and feel the same about these sucky updates :) Edit: To challenge myself I love to race using lower upgraded carts and still beating the bots. It's actually so fun when you actually manage to beat them.

Also another thing. Why did they decide to put a 300cc limit to the karts Before 2.0 the highest cc was 1410cc Now the maximum is only 300cc

Back in my 4th grade, my dad had a pissy fit and deleted all the games in my phone, including Angry Birds Go. *Right before I managed to complete the game* And when I re-downloaded the games, all of my progress are gone. Bastard.

You forgot to mention the Senna bird who was based on a real F1 racer named Ayrton senna who drove the MP4/8. They got rid of him in 2.0

I Missed the ability to Pick and Choose what Missions you'd wanna do and i love the challenges that came afterwards (i got to like Challenge sheet number 10 for Fruit Splat across all tracks) then they turned into a Straight Path and removed the Choice that was frustrating

The 2.0 update came out about a day after I was finally able to finish the race against Hal after almost 2 weeks of failed attempts. You could imagine my deep frustration and unhappiness learning that all the dedication I put into the game was utterly wasted for a reboot that nobody wanted. Why remove each individual bird's stamina for a shared stamina meter to begin with?

i genuinely miss the old version, i remember that there was a free chuck that you could get (i think?, i dont rember), i also remember being genuinely surprised(?) having the iron bolt and rocket racer (or whatever chuck's stunt kart is called), i even remember when my dad downloaded it in my 2nd oldest (i think?) tablet along with some other games, that i dont remember which (except despicable me minion rush) back in 2015 i re-downloaded it on my tablet to see how it was again, its absolutely horrible i wish someone would re-upload the older versions (probably never happening lets be real) whoever at rovio thought making angry birds go into this was a good idea, why??? (6 JAN 2024 EDIT) so, i wanted to say (and fix) a bunch of stuff for this i guess 1. it's called "wall magnet", rocket racer is the one right before it 2. another thing i remember was me wasting 56 gems on somewhen near christmas 2015 to get high flyer 3. at the time i originally commented this i was unaware that sega bought angry birds, them bringing back pre 2.0 angry birds go would be cool 4. other than what i said on 3, there's a channel called "gamerbones" that has links to APKs of pre 2.0 angry birds go, i uninstalled the vesion i had on my tablet a bit after i made the original comment (since then i've had an im pretty sure 1.4.0 file on my tablet)

You got birds chillin' in the tree, an underground garage, and hell, you got the classic feel of what an Angry Birds game is supposed to be, but in kart form. Now, it's all about the money. I mean, it always has been, but noe the money part is slowly killing the franchise.

I'm so glad someone's talking about how Rovio butchered Angry Birds Go with v2.0. Even deleting my save file before delisting the game. To make matters worse, they hadn't even taken advantage of the Nintendo Switch by releasing better sequels on it. Not even the OG Angry Birds game or Fruit Nibblers either.

i reinstalled angry birds go some days ago, and just played it cause i was bored - the music stops in the middle of the race, bringing a depressive and hollow vibe - the 3 stars animation is just a transition, it sucks - the upgrade system consists of golden and steel parts instead of coins and/or gems - some things changed: *every character has its own energy bar, so that you can play all of them, instead of 1 or 2 forever *the birds go to the nest tree, its creative, cute to see them tired or sleeping, IT WAS GOOD *when you go to the upgrade room, its under the ground, it has an elevator and it has a mechanic pig, another good and memorable thing *the first time you play, it has this comics history of red joining the race *you only got one generic energy bar *the nest tree is gone *upgrades were replaced to this stupid UI *yeah, its gone too seriously, HOW CAN YOU MAKE A GAME, THEN DO THIS? rovio sucks

I remember the original It was good, it was fine, it was grand. For a mobile game Then years later i revisit it and i was mortified to what i returned to... it was awful. I didnt know that you lost all your progress too...

I remember this update taking out the telepods (basically angry bird's take on toys to life which was a popular genre), and I was kinda upset because I had a lot of them.

i have a few more rants about this game (sorry if they were already mentioned, i got impatient to finish the vid) but when i used to use the telepods before 2.0 it would give me actual kart like how the telepod looks, but in 2.0 it gives me the shitty downgraded version, the parts system would be the reason why i never could upgrade my karts most of the time, the music would randomly get muted during or before a race, and the kart parts used to fall off which was satisfying, EVEN ONE OF THE DEVELOPERS MADE A VIDEO TALKING ABOUT THE GAME WHILE IT WAS IN CONCEPT SAYING “when we saw the kart fall apart, we knew it felt right”

They really did ruin all the game're personality and fun with this one. The upgrade parts sucked. The lack of the Tree was dumb, and they made you watch even more ads. And most importantly, you could no longer select mode on the track you wanted.

Yeah I have been trying to beat this version of the game for years now. It forces you to wait DAYS to do races that you can earn blueprints for to buy more cars. I’ve only made it past the blues, and that’s it. I JUST upgraded my car to 208CC… I need 228CC to beat the fruit level just to continue the game. I’m not spending money to progress in this game that 5 years ago I could have beaten in a week. I hate what Rovio did to this game and I wish there as a way to force iOS to have the older version of the game.

Also in 2.0 chuck’s power breaks the game since the power is so op lol

Great video and I can agree with most of these points. It’s so sad to see Angry Birds Go become so awful with the HORRIBLE difficulty and progression system, and upgrading karts is a lot more tedious and frustrating now. I really miss the good old days in the mid 2010s where I’d pick a bird from the tree to race with, then select an awesome kart, then proceed to the level selection. The upgrade system back then before 2.0 felt just right for me. I played this game a lot back then and I’m really gonna miss it. Shame on Rovio for being so dumb and ruining this nostalgic game.

I mean... 2.0, or any _.0 usually signifies something big coming to a game. This update was a revamp, a bad one at that, that has also TAKEN things you already had. So much cool stuff could have been added, like the ice bird, Stella birds, seasons or epic related content, new tracks maybe. AB has such a cool history that gets completely overlooked because of the match 3 and whatevers that the OG games got replaced with...

I remember searching for those Telepod things, never found one. But I did find a toy car, and figured it would work with a Telepod if I eventually found one. Never did, and donated the toy just recently.

tbh 2.0 was fun, but when i saw the cars they are never been the same and alot change now i really miss 1.0, and also rip the blue hat pig ( you will be love) i feel like a fly, and got bait by traps and it makes a foor to realize for myself

Its actually so strange that they would decide to update the game despite knowing that the ability to download it would be taken away? I mean at least they still updated it to work with newer operating systems I guess? But they literally could of just kept the game in its previous state (bugs and all) while canning online servers while keeping micro transactions active (realistically that would be their priority). Sucks to see this happen and I feel for all the people that grew up on games with inaccessible older versions or online only games

i remember physically frowning to the 2.0 update. pre 2.0 has their own charm which makes it so unique and cool as a racing kart game itself, but they decided to try and appeal to "all audiences" by dumbing it down into a simpler level by level game. hands down one of the worst update, and rovio's 2nd worst event.

You know, Angry Birds Go 1.0 was available at one point in 2019 2020-ish i think. There was this app made by Rovio which was cloud gaming on the phone called Hatch but closed down for some reason in 2021 (maybe cause noone really used it) and i was happy that old Angry Birds Go was back. But, it closed down like i said. I was very dissapointed. There were some changes, but it was fairly not much of a difference (except the removal of Senna Bird). I miss it.
