Great job at this historical story. I never heard it told that way and in that detail. Reminds me of how back when I was in High School my WW2 veteran history teacher (1980s btw) used to teach history. First day he told us to never bring our text book to class ever again. Best history teacher ever! You did not need anything but a notebook. Of course most of us kids had Grandpas that fought in WW2 that were still alive. A lot of us had our grandfathers come to class and talk about what they did in WW2. My Pappy had died just before I had this teacher, but he fought and was wounded in North Africa. Fast forward 50 years and I find out that my biological Grandfather (I was adopted) and his twin brother fought through Normandy and both were wounded twice. I just found my birth Mom this year. Weird thing is that I enlisted in the Infantry, ended up in the 82nd Airborne, but thank god after 26 years... no Purple Heart!

I'm amazed at how your stories get better and better. This one brought tears of pride to my eyes for a long dead and mostly forgotten old man who defined "American Values" with his life. It should be shown on the floor of the House and the Senate to remind them who WE are and where we come from. One of my Ancestors was in Ipswich. He was in his 20’s with 2 kids, a wife and a farm. He and everyone else was low on ammo because you could only buy ammo from roughly June - End of August when the ships came in. No one wanted to sail in winter weather and though it took the Mayflower 59 days, arriving in November…experience had taught the Captains the safest and fastest route took 1 month. No point risking atrocious weather. Anyway, he could have stayed home in Ipswich and waited to see just how badly things popped off, but instead he went riding through the night arriving before dawn to Concord Green. Every guy who showed up instantly became a Traitor. They risked Death in the fight or being maimed. If captured on the day there would now be a $50 bounty on their head and they would be shot or hung as Traitors to the Crown, their homes burned and valuables confiscated. The wealthiest in town had the Houses overlooking the green in Lexington & Concord and could and did write to report who was there to fight. Soon after most Royalists took a ship back to England. British soldiers were given orders to confiscate every man’s weapons which was possibly a death sentence in that without them they could neither hunt nor defend from Indians nor troops. Womenfolk devised stalling techniques to offer Officer’s a beverage while husbands got locked and loaded. The gals also came up with innovative places to hide ammo. In the greater Boston area ( where I am from) this was a life or death personal battle that affected every family. They all knew they had no shot against the Mightiest Military in the World … but they all decided to stand up to the King and go down fighting with every means possible. I bow to our Forebears.

My dad was born in 1956 and had 10 siblings. My grandfather, a Purple Heart recipient from WWII and my my grandmother had 11 children, which got them 36 grandchildren who gave them (so far) 200+ great grandchildren and those children have gotten them over 50 great great grandchildren and counting. It’s amazing.

Love your videos. This guy is like a farmer i met overseas. Old guy, i don't even think he knew his age, that was part of a group my unit was dealing with. He never spoke much, but after a few months i found out this guy had fought the Russians, the "Arabs" ( as he called the people brought in to fight the Russians in the 80s), and the verious warlords that tryed to "govern" the hill tribes. He always carred a shortened saber that his grandfather had taken off a Russian, a Webly revolver taken off the British by his dad, and a old AK47 that he had "recovered" from the soviets. As a completely unrelated note, his grandson carred a m16. A warning to all want-to-be tyrants, don't mess with old farmers.

I normally skip over paid advertisement but the suspense of Mushu rolling over, or not, kept me watching. Also, at 4 minutes into the video Sam was in his 70s. I thought, well that was a short video. Then I saw we still had 13 minutes left. The mount of things Sam accomplished in the last 20 years of his life is more than most accomplish in two life times.
