Some aggrieved youth in Karaye Local Government Area of Kano State were on Thursday said to have attacked and chased away the representative of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Reports said the residents’ action was to publicly register their dissatisfaction with the recent development in their Emirate that saw the dethronement of their emir.
Recall that Karaye emirate is one of the five Emirates in Kano recently stripped off of being first class Emir by the State House of Assembly which subsequently led to the sacking of their emir, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar II.
According to an eyewitness, the incident happened when the Emir's representative was on his way to the palace in company of the Local Government interim chairman, Wada Nababa Tudun-Kaya.
He said the Emir's representative came into town and was received by the interim chairman but was attacked by angry youths.
It took the intervention of the police station in Karaye to bring the situation under control.
