Hi Angus, this exactly setup what i was looking for. I will go on 10000km Europe trip and didn't want to be packed up so much like the most gravelers and carry too much stuff with me. I didnt want any sidebags or so except waterbottels like you had. I never saw somebody who rolled thair sleeping setup like this and this looked brilliant!🎉 I'll definitely try it out. Do you have a video or some comments how your trip went and how your setup was? Did you miss anything or would've done it differently? I hope you had a great time and manged the trip save! Best regards Julia

Hi Julia, The only yhtink i think i would change for this trip wold be a suspension fork as it was pretty rough at times but that is more of a route specific change. for "gravel" this was spot on.

@angusyoung-enduranceathlete I see! I thought the same that it would be really hard to ride in the Spain and Portugal at this gravel parts. I'll hopefully experience this in 2026. So you made a good setup and thanks for responding.

Getting into the ultra world myself after bikepacking for the last 2 years - got an OR Helium bivvy myself, assume you've had lots of condensation with it too? And how do you manage wet bivvy/bag when needing to keep on the move? In fact - any regrets not using a small 1 man tent? Also curious if you were tempted to go for a TT bag rather than front roll for aero efficiency?

@@angusyoung-enduranceathlete thankyou for the response, but there is another SON DELUXE hub that is a bit expensive but performs better? Do you find any issue / do you mix you how you manage the sleep system when the bivvy is out in the wet? I.e. do you separate the down sleeping bag from the bivvy when packing so dont get out wet?

Hi, So i tried really hard not to get it too wet, I would always try and find some for of shelter if it was raining. I didnt really feel the need to separate them whilst packing. also at any oppurtunity i would try and dry out the sleeping bag etc.

As a Norwegian, I felt insulted when you said you can't charge your stuff up when traveling around my country... We got "Freedom to roam", you is free to walk onto everybody's property and ring the door bell and ask for a power socket... on any cabin and house or farm you come across. On the countryside, like the place I live, most would let you charge up, give you a coffee while waiting and let you have a few hours of charging your battery banks ect. I'm planning a trip through Denmark and my plan is simply to ring on peoples door and ask for a charge up, maybe ask for some water fill ups and a cold beer while waiting 🤣 While in Scandinavia, use your Freedom to roam and don't feel shy asking people for a charge up. The worst that can happen is they simply ask you to leave or they are too busy. Most got time or take the time to help a traveler out. Especially something as easy as charging some power banks and flashlights and smart phones.
@angusyoung-enduranceathlete
@angusyoung-enduranceathlete Жыл бұрын
I suppose when I say I can’t charge is that I would rather not have to spend one looking for somewhere and then wait around for a few hours to let something charge. People are amazing yes but sometimes all I want is to get my head down and put some miles in. When racing stopping can be a distraction I don’t need :)
