NATIONAL LAMPOON'S ANIMAL HOUSE SYNOPSIS
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Animal House is a raucous comedy set in at Faber College, a fictional university in the United States. The film follows the misadventures of the rowdy Delta Tau Chi fraternity as they clash with the strict academic and social norms of the college.
The story centers around a group of misfit Delta Tau Chi members, led by the charismatic and rebellious John "Bluto" Blutarsky (played by John Belushi). Bluto and his fellow Deltas, including the more level-headed Otter (Tim Matheson) and the clever D-Day (Bruce McGill), constantly find themselves at odds with the uptight college administration, particularly the college's Dean Vernon Wormer (John Vernon) and the snobby Omega Theta Pi fraternity.
With its wacky humor, memorable characters, and iconic moments, "Animal House" became a cult classic and a defining film of the comedy genre. The film's legacy endures as a symbol of college rebellion and the celebration of hedonistic party culture, leaving a lasting impact on subsequent comedy films and inspiring generations of viewers.

It came out in 1978, the year I started college. It was hilarious. It's just so imaginative and funny. Doug Metcalf....."fraternity Pin!" Neidermeyer was so great. AH was and is the funniest movie in the National Lampoon collection. Yes, those Chevy Chase Vacarion movies made lots of money but Chevy Chase comedy is just too stupid for me. It is very difficult to even get me to crack a smile to most comedies and Chevy Chase is about as funny as a colonoscopy exam with a plumber's snake.

This is a serious trip down nostalgia lane for me, as I was attending the University of Oregon as an undergraduate when it was filmed there. I saw Belushi filming a scene in the Erb Memorial Union. I attended classes in some of the lecture halls used for scenes, most prominent of which was the "courtroom scene" featuring the coughing fit.

what i really love him outside the film as he's one of my favorite actors of all time is that during the making of it when Karen Allen came out wearing no pants she did not want to do that at all so to make her comfortable Sutherland walks out completely nude and it worked however what makes it really funny is that was NEVER suppose to even be in the film. he had no idea they were even shooting that and i don't think he sued or anything but it's still funny.

This was one of the first R-rated movies I ever saw, back in the early 80s. Belushi was a riot, without question. D-Day was great, and how much he looked like Freddie Mercury (from Queen) was uncanny. Most notably, this was the screen debut of Kevin Bacon. This is an unforgettable classic to me! Have it on DVD and when I need a good laugh, this is my turn-to, as well as others.

A friend of my brother's had a house and business on Martha's Vineyard and Belushi spent his summers there. He would be in a bar, sitting by himself and then would jump up and yell, "I'm John Belushi!" People would send over drinks and turn him on to grams of coke. It was quite a status thing to say you did that, or even better to have done some lines with him. A lot of the SNL cast spent their summers on MV and my brother's friend sucked up to them and gave them a lot of coke. He pissed away all his money buying drinks and drugs for them. He thought he had an in with them. By Labour day, they all left. "Thanks for all the coke!"

Nicely done! Whenever I see Animal House on, I have to stop and watch. But favorite of all the films the cast was in outside of Animal House? It's sorta weird, and you didn't list it, but the 1979 movie Dreamer with Tim Matheson is probably my favorite. Idiot critics called this a bowling version of "Rocky", but it wasn't. It was just a guy trying to keep his relationships together and have some fun along the way, while also getting to be a professional bowler. What can I say, I was into bowling as a kid. I probably should get back into it. Anyways great video!

STORK! "What the hell we SPOSED ta do ya moron!" Cool factoid....Stork was one of the writers of Animal House. John Landis wanted to have him there during the filming. The money people said NO. They were concerned about cost overruns and wanted to keep it LOW budget. So Landis in a stroke of genius gave him the part of STORK, then ensured that he'd have a SPEAKING ROLE which would guarantee him payment for the movie. So Landis got Stork there to assist in the making of the film anyway. And Stork is now a character that will live forever, as will his famous quote. So sad to see that he crapped out at such a young age. That SUCKS.

I was a student walking on campus one evening when they were making this film. I noticed a group of 25-30 young people being held back by 3 or 4 older folks with their arms outstretched holding them back. As I turned my head a little farther to my left to see what they were being held back from - there he was. John Belushi was on the side walk of the street that I was crossing about 25 feet away from me. He stopped for a few seconds to look at me and just sort of grunted and moved on. My guess is that he was trying to get into his Bluto character that evening and a group other college kids started following him around and were being held back from him by his entourage. That 1977-78 school year was quite a year...

When you run out of films for your channel, then you can track down Sarah Holcomb and interview her. It may take a P.I. to find her though?

After the credits is the end title card: "When in Hollywood visit Universal Studios (Ask for Babs)" Universal put that after the end credits of all their theater releases for a while (they may still do it).

Bruce McGill is a well-respected character actor in TV and movies. He has a lot of credits. "The Bartender" in the 2-part finale of "Quantum Leap" for one...

Even if Mary Louise Weller continued her Hollywood career until 2007, she might deserve some great box office hit movies. What was Mary Louise Weller rejecting? She is also known for her Jean Nate After Bath Splash commercials.

Unbelievable how old these guys were-they all looked old but to see it is comical. Mrs Dean Wormer was about 5-10 years older than them!

The older sister of a girl I grew up with was an extra in this movie. I remember there being an article in the hometown newspaper about it. As I recall, she's seen at the beginning of the cafeteria scene, at the stack of trays. She briefly walks up, takes a tray, and leaves. I think that was the scene mentioned in the article. There's another brief flash of a scene that I've also thought might be her as well, but you only see her from the back. That one's at the grocery.
