What kind mice for laboratory? Just albino mus muscullus can use for lab? How diferent them with another mice genetic for lab?

yikes... they suffer for our stupid ways of being lazy and comfortable....we get what we deserve....

So people with diabetes deserve it? There is no doubt exercise and avoiding smoking and alcohol contribute to better health, but there are many diseases and conditions that need treatments. I'm fortunate for example to have been vaccinated against the diseases that killed children in my grandparents generation. These vaccines were developed in animals.

@@understandinganimalresearch I understand your point of view.....I just do not believe in transferring suffering to other sentient beings for any reason. all must live and die according to their own actions. we assume we know and understand, and I think underestimate, the extent of their inner world experiences. If you could be up close and personal to these labs, day after day ,a different perspective may arise. I might concede to a few straight forward important cases, but doing so opens the way to the likes of rabbits being forced to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day and the egregious use of animals for test in the cosmetics industry. Did we have to raise monkeys in isolation to understand the need for touch in the development of a sentient organism? All the best, Mark

@@markthornton7347 Completely agree re testing smoking and cosmetics but these were banned years ago in the UK. I thought the monkeys raised in isolation experiments decades ago were horrible and would never pass ethical review today. I don't think we do assume we know about the 'inner experience' of animals but we can get some clues by presenting them with choices and see what they prefer. This can then lead to better conditions, different types of enrichment. Re 'all must live and die according to their own actions' - must we? Is it my action that means I catch a virus like COVID? I'm vaccinated so in my case the infection was unpleasant but not life threatening. I guess that was my action but many people don't have access to vaccines so there is a large element of luck in how we live or die. All the best, Richard, film maker at UAR.

@@understandinganimalresearch yes Richard, I only hope that the 115 million plus animals being tested on today is really needed and not just the easy way around we humans not having to change our often spurious behaviors....cheers, mark
