Horrible comparison. Whales and Dolphins are mammals. Dolphins and whales are totally different, although very similar. I believe all toothed whales are considered dolphins if im not mistaken

The False Killer Whale (Pseudorca crassidens) is a blackfish, it grows to 18 ft long, making it the fourth largest blackfish, blackfish are small to mid-sized whales that belong to the family Orcinidae, with only six extant species within only five genera, it is also known that the blackfish are the most basal extant family within the broader superfamily Delphinoidea (Oceanic Lesser Toothed Whales), which includes three other families such as Monodontidae (Narwhal and Beluga), Phocoenidae (Porpoises), and Delphinidae (Dolphins), interestingly, the closest living relative of the false killer whale is in fact the Pygmy Killer Whale (Feresa attenuata).

“Blackfish” is just a slang term. It’s not scientific. Weird that you’re trying to make it sound like a real classification.
@SageRosemaryTime
@SageRosemaryTime Жыл бұрын
@@hukilausurfer It's the literal translation of the name given to them by America's first peoples so not quite a slang term. Scientists tend to use Latin. Indigenous names are as valid as any other .Sure it's not the scientific classification name but does serve to distinguish them from others as a group.

@Teg_MotoNoGo, actually, blackfish are not dolphins, both blackfish (family Orcinidae) and dolphins (family Delphinidae) belong to the superfamily Delphinoidea (Oceanic Lesser Toothed Whales), but dolphins are most closely related to porpoises, while the blackfish are the most basal extant family and the family Monodontidae, which contains the narwhal and beluga is actually the sister group to the clade that contains the dolphins and porpoises to the exclusion of blackfish.

Ive always been against naming anything False something. It seems a little disrespectful and kinda downplays the individually of a species by simply comparing it to something it isn't. I see it with fungi, animals and plants and it gets real confusing when there are several things that can be considered false.

Yea so the fact that they travel in pods of 100 or more doesn't match up with your alarmist pseudoscientist stats. There are many thousands alive today and because of the their size and the amount of territory they cover this is a healthy population not in any danger of extinction. (Just hope they stay away from any foreign natural gas pipelines the US Military gets to close to, aka the largest manmade environmental disaster in history, and done on purpose too. Never forget what the US Military in collusion with the CIA & The Whitehouse did in 2022... Never believe a word they say ever again when they speak on the "environment" & "climate".)

Until now, i thought that all humans knew that all whales breathe air..... most amphibians and all reptiles that live in the water also breathe air through lungs. many amphibians breath oxygen through their skin. In pseudoscience humans use to live in water. But on the other-side of the spectrum the aquatic ape hypothesis (AAH), also referred to as aquatic ape theory (AAT) or the waterside hypothesis of human evolution, postulates that the ancestors of modern humans took a divergent evolutionary pathway from the other great apes by becoming adapted to a more aquatic habitat.
@gregkosinski2303
@gregkosinski2303 6 ай бұрын
It’s not that weird if you think about it. Lungfish actually have a competitive advantage vs fish that only get oxygen through gills in many environments. Aquatic mammals similarly have some advantages in their ability to slurp oxygen where it’s plentiful. In general their physiology is turbocharged vs most fish.
@GnosticJuggernaut.
@GnosticJuggernaut. 6 ай бұрын
@@gregkosinski2303 I definitely agree with the way you're interpreting my statement. I'm just saying it's strange and amazing that it happens, in more of it almost seems like it was written in a fantasy novel. That kind of strange and weird, not as practical like your comment. Hopefully I made since just now it's new year's and I had a drink or two,lol. Happy new year.
