Honestly shows that even mother chimps need a break, but also know when break time is over. Teaches the young females how to care or the baby as well. No aggression, just came and took over.

Not always and little babies die. Sad but true. Happens more often then not. These animals are trained to be survival of the fittest so compassion is not something they know about unless mother to infant and half the time not even then.

@@suetaylor1127 You need to let go of the 19th-Century social-"darwinism" that is a complete perversion of what Charles Darwin himself said: "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." When he said, "fittest," he meant, "best-fitting." It was a bunch of Victorian Era aristocratic twunts who took, "fittest," to mean, "physically-fit," so that they could twist it into, "superior" so that they could then twist that to mean that they were of "socially superior breeding" and therefore it was alright for them to ignore the suffering of the lower classes slaving away for them in Industrial-Age London. It had absofsckinglotely *_NOTHING_* to do with *_ANYTHING_* Charles Darwin said about biology. Any female chimp that is inattentive to her babies won't have any babies that reach 2 months old. If a mom-chimp is attentive those first 2 months, she's not gonna suddenly stop at month-3. Chimpanzees _in the wild_ have been observed showing compassion to infirm troop members. The channel, "Casual Geographic," for his father's day video this week, included segments about a wild tiger that stepped in and raised his cubs after their mother was killed, something thought "impossible". So even non-primates will do things that we humans have deemed, "not something these Mere Animals know about." We humans are a good deal closer to the other Great Apes than we want to recognize. Look up the video, “Chimpanzees are ‘just like us’ - BBC REEL”, which talks about chimpanzee empathy and altruism.

@Deborah Nieling I wouldn't call them "pacifists". While they are indeed less savage than chimps overall, orangutans are often extremely perverted and shameless pedophiles. There are many recorded incidents of mother and grandmother orangutans giving their own babies or grandchildren blowjobs or performing other depraved sexual acts on them. They are disgusting in their own way. I can't believe the amount of people I saw in one video of an infant orangutan fucking his grandmother in the mouth commenting on how... "cute" they look when doing these things. It makes me question how many of these people are pedophiles themselves.

Violence is a very normal part of chimp social interactions. They don't seem to be as rough on their infants as macaques or a lot of other monkey species I've watched but life as a baby chimp isn't easy. I saw a video where a baby chimp that was rejected by her mother had to be hand raised by zoo keepers and they were purposely being very rough with her prior to reintroduction so she wouldn't be too shocked by how violent the older chimps were.

How do you suppose that'll happen when mom is always keeping a watchful eye? Chimpanzees are a very nurturing species when a mother and baby relationship is concerned. I've yet to see or hear of an incident where a sibling kills another - not accidentally towards an under developed sibling and most definitely not purposely. I have however seen footage of juvenile chimps killing infants not related to them but again, never blood relatives. I just really don't see that happening.

If they were being too rough, the mother would come over immediately. You should see what happens to a chimpanzee that is too rough on a young Chimp. So why don't you go in and stop this abuse? You people think this shit is funny? That Hugh male has more compassion towards that baby than you "humans."

I think the twins are jealous of the baby. Look how they hold her down intentionally then look at her facial expression. They both look so smug. After watching several videos of these twins, it seems as though they are demanding of their mothers attention and extremely jealous of any attention the baby gets. It’s also alarming that the twins are now so big and the mom is still nursing both of them as well as the baby, especially when the twins try to steal milk away from the baby and the mom seems to placate the twins all the time. These twins are nasty. Not nice and sweet chimps but nasty pieces of work. They will probably grow up to be that way as well unfortunately. Spoilt, selfish, and just mean. It’s true that chimps have personalities like humans, some are nice, some are docile, and some are just mean. I’m thinking these girls are just nasty.

I think you need to consult a therapist about your relationship with your own siblings, because you're projecting a heck of a lot onto this video.   I haven't seen anything different from all of the other chimp videos I've been bingewatching today. In fact, the "holding down" you're attributing malice to looks identical to what 2 baby chimps the same age were doing in another video about, "baby chimps playing." At one point, the older sister lays flat over the top of her baby sibling. Also, you can see, about a minute before the baby starts crying, that the baby is looking for the milk-bar. It's at that point that big-sis changes how she's holding the baby so that it can't reach her chest. And at the end of the video, big sister is tumbling/rolling with the baby. That's clearly play. One of the twins also takes the blow when the adult male reaches back to hit the baby. Lastly, this _is_ at a zoo. Zookeepers _will_ separate animals if they think they're a threat to each other. If the twins were the demon-siblings you are claiming, the zoo staff would have mom & baby separated from the rest of the troop in a heartbeat. No, you're projecting your own issues onto these chimps. Either that, or you've let your mind be poisoned by those Cambodian videographers at Angkor Wat who instigate fights in the macaques there so they can invent a story they can tell with their heavily-edited videos, and now think all primates act like that [when even the macaques being shown don't act that way normally].

It is strange that you are applying such negative HUMAN qualities onto these animals! You are seeing behaviors in these animals that are not happening. It is also not unusual that this mom might still allow these twins to nurse despite the fact that she has a new baby. In the wild in a more natural setting she would not have had a baby so quickly after birthing these twins and they would still be nursing and very close with their mother so it is natural that they would still want/need to nurse even though there is a new baby! They do not act nasty, spoiled, mean or selfish...again, it is strange that you are projecting all of these qualities onto these animals...maybe it says something about you yourself?? The behaviors that these two twins are exhibiting when interacting with this infant are not unusual or negative in any way. It is normal for them to play in such a way and anytime the baby gets too upset and cries the mom is nearby and immediately steps in and retrieves the baby. If these twins were truly being mean and selfish with this baby then you would see incidents of them pinching, shoving, kicking, biting, scratching and intentionally dropping the baby. You never ever see any of these types of behaviors from them towards this baby. In no way do they act jealous of this baby when the mother gives it attention. In this video when mom came and got the baby (and therefore gave it attention) what did they do that would make you say that? They did not even blink an eye when she came and got the baby. It is not unusual for them to hold the baby down...have you ever tended to a determined infant that basically could grab with four hands?? I doubt it. As far as your claim that they held her down and then looked at her facial expression and that "they both looked so smug" exists in only your imagination and nowhere else. What are you talking about that they try to "steal milk away from the baby"?? In what way do they possibly do that?? Oh, do you mean when the mom willingly and intentionally allows them to nurse? you know, because at their age it is still normal for them to be doing that? Wonder why the mom still attempts to placate the twins....hmm...could it be because they are her children as well and are still young enough that in the wild she would still be constantly caring for them and devoting all of her time to them? The only one that seems nasty and mean might be you! There was a case of a young gibbon in this zoo who did actually attempt to injure his tiny baby brother and there is a HUGE difference in the way he would behave towards that infant and the way these two interact with their younger sibling here. The mother in that case tended to be neglectful and would often leave the baby unattended despite that it would cry for her. Every chance he got the older brother would grab the little one and then go up high and pry the little ones hands off of him and try to throw him to the ground or if the baby was hanging onto something he would do everything in his power to make the baby fall to the ground from and extreme height. You never see any of these mean behaviors from these twins towards this baby...well, I mean obviously you do but in reality it does not exist.😊
