I'm a bit autistic and I often hear music differently than to how it actually is and this song slappp. I could never be a musician because I hate tedious and monotonous tasks. Plus I would hate to listen to music as if I'm understanding it as through music theory, timings and notes and techniques and all that. I'm a pedant and someone who over analyzes everything. But not my music. Music is meant just to soak up and feel and be absorbed through the imagination and emotion not to be understood through reason.

@@Communism.is.a.cancer Nuno did not start utilizing selective picking until 1990 when "Get the Funk Out" was released. From what I've been able to see, those licks utilize a very primitive form of selective picking, although they are still technically challenging. Tosin developed his selective picking independently of Nuno and combined it with arpeggiations of chords and extensions of chords, incorporating jazz vocabulary while not losing the roots of prog. You listen to this track and then listen to Nuno, who at most used selective picking as a flavor for the beginnings of runs before going into sweep picking or alternate picking, and tell me honestly who made the technique. I don't care about technicalities so don't bother with those.

@@cankledankle6498 "Nuno did not start utilising SELECTIVE PICKING until 1990 blah, blah, blah, blah" 🥱 basically you just lost the whole argument there, but ok. It doesn't matter in what form it was played or if Tosin Abasi mixes it with other already existing techniques, he still is not the one who invented it. Besides that, I gave Nuno Bettencourt as an example, but other guitar players have used it before Abasi and it's mostly used on bass guitar, where Abasi takes most of his techniques from. It is also used on classical guitar. But you're mister know-it-all, so good luck!
