No, manatees exist. Those guys can't even think about being violent. They're big, they eat marine plants, they usually aren't preyed upon but the very big very violent and angry predatory animals around them. Manatees they just exist and if they feel threatened they just run away.

Just so nobody fully believes the title, falls so in love that they decide to buy any... Males, especially, can be quite aggressive towards humans. It can be caused by simply touching them in the wrong spot, getting too close to their favourite person or fellow capy, etc. They are quite large rodents, so you don't want one attacking you. Not saying that they can't be good pets for some, but they are exotics with very specific care requirements, and there could very likely be no vets in your area qualified to treat them. They also need a pool, which disqualifies people in a lot of climates. Just don't get suckered in by titles like this. Yes, they're cute. They have some fascinating behaviours. And, for the most part, they're pretty chill. ...but you could also end up with a massive aquatic Guinea pig with massive teeth like hole punches who is difficult to get along with and costs you an absolute fortune to keep healthy.

Their friendliness is like a survival adaptation that got them out of the amazon jungle where they would be eaten by anacondas, jaguars etc, and into safe zoos and homes.

They don't live only in the Amazon, they live in different kinds of forests, woods and camps.They are very adaptable. In Brazil they are all over the place, in different states with different climate. It's very common to see them in lakes and rivers in the cities too.
