Heya everyone!
Here's the conclusion of the first arc of "Infinite Eclipse: Prequel's Finale" - the epilogue of the Molten Spike arc!
Last month I released a track named "Badlands Meltdown", a boss/battle theme between the Wings of Destruction and Ember & Thorax, and I saw some comments in the video asking what happened to Ember and Thorax.
Welp, in this absolutely fantastic animatic Amyntha made - here's the conclusion of that part of the story!
This is "Thorax' Quietus", a reorchestration of Thorax' UEP theme. Hope you'll enjoy this animatic (you might already have seen it on Amyntha's channel)!
In any case, here are some words from Amyntha:
"The end of the Molten Spike Arc in Infinite Eclipse: Prequel's finale has arrived...
An animatic half a year in the works, and a year and a half in planning, is finally done!
The animatic portrays the end of the Molten Spike Arc, Thorax and Ember are fighting hard to save their friends and subjects from the goddesses.
Thorax is reminded of all those he lost while he passes on to the afterlife and he is confronted with his last memories again.
It's finally done!!
I thought of this animatic back in 2022 when I was in Canada listening to Thorax' UEP theme. When I pitched my idea to Jyc he told me it was close to the actuall cannon. So I adjusted the story but had to wait for a year before I could start on this animatic. I ended up starting and consulting with Jyc often about the different scenes. He then mentioned he'd like to change the song and make one specific for this animatic! To give Thorax and the others their proper send off in this story.
(Also we kept kinda overtaking eachother on the emotions part in this animatic, sorry everyone ^^")
I noticed a big growth in my work during the making of this animatic causing the scenes to be looking sometimes quite different from eachother. But I'm still proud of it, definitely cause it was planned to be just a greyscale sketch animatic... heheh... why do I do this to myself?

(PS: It is not in the animatic because it's off-camera, since the animatic is about Thorax, but just before arriving and saving Thorax from Molten Ocellus, Ember just had to deal with Molten Smolder as well. She did that, then went to help Thorax as he didn't had the guts to deal with Molten Ocellus himself)

Thank you again for making a complete new song for the Animatic and making it the final sendoff for these awesome characters!! I still smile at the fact that this one shower thought turned out to be cannon and gave spark to this animatic I worked hard on with your help! Now time to learn how to storyboard officially in my college course and maybe the next thing I come back with will also be IE related

Poor Thorax... War is a scary thing especially when your at it's center as to gain something you might lose everything, though tyrants typically view losses as a minor set back in order to dominate the other side no matter who or what gets caught in the cross fire, but despite all possible odds those at the center will keep fighting in hopes that one day their sacrifices will possibly save what future that others may have. Rest in peace for those who have fallen and may you be able to find better home in the afterlife away from the molten and crystallized as Nerath no longer has shackles on your mind and Aquasha no longer has lava flowing through your veins.

During scenes like this, I wish there was just one character who wouldn't mourn, but laugh. Not at the death, but for the life well lived. One who would revel in what is being fought for. One who would lift the last fighters from their despair after the last several incidents had accomplished nothing but make their efforts feel even more pointless. If there is a light at the end of the tunnel, sometimes, all it takes is just one to see it, even if they don't live long enough to see others find it. And if not? Better to die in defiance than become a monster in a world that won't be e far behind you.

This brought tears to my eyes so fast. I knew that Thorax was going to die, it was the only way to stop the Wings of Destruction. I'm glad that they get to be together on the other side.

This really makes me want to see more of Thorax's trials and tribulations of a King. You've depicted beautifully the had choices that must be made when a nation is faced with conflict. Seeing Pharynx and Ocellus slowly disappear made my heart ache, well done!

OMG!!!!!! I felt so emotional watching it. Honestly, music is one of the factors that helps improve the experience, and the author did an extremely good job in that part (it's truly amazing). But I have to say, I feel that the plot is also an element that the author has done very uniquely, which makes me feel truly admired.😍👍

So... what do you do when you feel like you've failed your entire race. That you feel like your weakness or inability to save everyone you cared about haunts you. It doesn't matter if it is true or not, you feel like you have to attone, unable to fogive yourself. After all that, is seeking death in battle penance or an easy way out? It reminded me a lot of Fallout: Equestria - Project Horizons and Blackjack

and so has fallen one of the great commanders, his sacrifice was not in vain and with him took down one of the most powerful tools the molten had over them, and avenged the death of his family and friends. Thorax may not have ever really felt like he was a strong individual, that he'd ever really have the backbone to stand up and really be the commander he was needed to be in this dark and gruesome storyline - However, I think his final move showed that to be false, and showed just how strong he truly was - he just had no wish to fight.

Spike was killed and revived by the Goddess of Destruction, becoming one of her many undead puppets. He scorched the entire Changeling Kingdom.

Not really the Changeling Kingdom though - he arrived at the Badlands where Ember and Thorax were projected after the revival of the Goddesses. Changelings were there in the war between Solar and Lunar, though, back in the beginning of IE

The music reminds me a lot the ones from Lord of the Rings, it's so beautiful and emotional 😢 You can feel the characters' emotions and the last panel is just so sad and yet, you can just smile in the same time ❤

The smile at 2:15 when she was beheaded, it makes you wonder if the host(?) is still in there somewhere, unable to do anything except watch through their eyes at the destruction caused by this body, unable to even express their sorrow through crying. Maybe this is how the term sweet death came to be

I know you said that none of those from G4 would make it to the eclipse story proper, but I cannot help but feel pain each time one is confirmed to pass, in one way or another. Be it corrupted or just fell in battle.

As for now, my main focus would be my own story - Infinite Eclipse - that is crossover with MLP for the prequel (so, the songs here), but original with the books, but also plan to make other songs like FF14 songs and ¨Pokemon songs eventually

According to what the ending seemed to tell me, Thorax either perished during the final battle between him and Molten Spike- or had a near death encounter to see his closest healthy and well in the skies far above. Nvm i googled Quietus. Its his death. Final standing.

Jyc has confirmed that during the actual eclipse it'll have to be all new characters. None of the characters we know and love will survive to infinite eclipse proper. This wasn't really just a decision on jyc's part but his hands are tied to avoid lawsuits from hasbro.

The art took me about half a year (with breaks seeing as I did have other priorities too), the planning of it was actually quite fast XD The music I think took about a month if I remember correctly when jyc told me he would make this and when he came to me with the finished version

There's no way the five to four remaining captains will win so what's the point fighting? I felt bad that Thorax might already lost the battle, sacrificing himself to save Ocellus and Spike. But worst is he may have turned into Molten? Now how will Ember and her teammates will stand the chance? I wonder if Virtus's staff can take down the Goddesses Sisters of cruel Infinite Eclipse? But overall this is well animated and how sad and deep the story goes on.

That's, kinda, the point of the story. They can't win, there's no hope for them, but they keep fighting nonetheless, because that's the only thing they have left.

If your choices are between 2 tyrant goddesses who would strip free will from the equation as they destroy the world, or die, the only logical choice would be death. But if you’re going to die, wouldn’t it make more sense to die doing everything in your power to save the corrupted? To die fighting? To do everything in your power to ensure their victory is as slow and/ or unenjoyable as possible?

If they can at least do their best for their friends not to be transformed into Molten or Crystallized, meaning having their bodies used against their will, then it's already a small win for the UEP
