I have seen countless perspective videos but seen no one elaborating how to determine an eye level based on my character's pose and build a perspective grid according to that to create a background. This tips are so much information packed. I found it really helpful. Coming straight from a Japanese Animation Industry professional. And Kiki Chan is a real life anime girl. Makes it more lovely to put her on such an informative tutorial.

Hey Dong this is a very informative and nice video. I just want to add on the things you said around the 3:00 mark. A long telephoto lens has the effect of flattening out perspective making the relative distance between objects seem smaller or less noticeable than say a wide angle lens, because of the fact that you will be farther away from the subject. (approaching isometric perspective as convergences become less noticeable) a telephoto lens will have a larger focal distance which in turn means closer objects are out of focus( the depth of field is more shallow meaning the space in which things are in focus is quite small. with a tele lens, things in front and in the bg will noticeable blurry as relative distance increases). (Bokeh is mostly affected by aperture and the way the lens is built as I am refreshing my knowledge) So for some style of portraits I see photographers use more wide angle ( not always ofc) lenses as it emphasises size difference and depth of a scene. ( it will make a face look slimmer but the features are emphasised ) a very strong (long) telephoto lens will create flatter less flattering (subjective) faces that will appear more wide. Telephoto is also popular as you can keep some distance and not be right in their face The basic principle for blur is the aperture and focal length and depth of field A smaller aperture will only allow for light that is more parallel to each other to enter and will achieve higher depth of field ( more sharpness in the depth. everyone can try this effect out for themselves if they have less than perfect or sharp vision: form a small hole with your index finger and look through it at something like text notice how it appears crisper and sharper and slightly magnified: that is the result of physics. the small hole or aperture only allows for light that is more parallel to enter thus forcing a larger depth of field (distance from which things are in focus) a wider aperture ( and a wider lens) will allow for more angled light to enter which will result in smaller depth of field and focal length , resulting in a more dramatic representation of relative distance of objects and blurry backgrounds. These are my two cents I really appreciate your work; as an illustrator who just got into animation

Thanks for making these videos :) Btw, a great topic for another video would be "How to build scenes with the CSP perspective ruler tool". It's pretty complicated to get into. Especially how to do this "different objects with different vanishing points" and "Have the character follow the same perspective as the scene"

Hi Dong, can I bother you to ask which videos on clipstudio are the most informative for cel setup? I know how to make a scene and cel template but I'm not sure how the professionals utilize the colors or layering to be efficient. I'm classically trained in animation (in Canada) too but would love to see a video on studio processes using Clip to handle the revision process, and keeping folders/layers organized.

Normally love the content, great stuff, great stuff, but at around 0:20 your mic is peaking in the highs (like, very, very highs) and I can feel the sound in my throat. Don't know if it happens anywhere else bc I havent watched the rest of the video. Edit: watched the whole video and it felt like I had razors in the base of my skull the whole time. Great video though.

Do you know how to use 3d background (animated with camera movements) to make 2d animation on it ? I’ve made a forest on blender but now I don’t know how to make the rough animation over that, only by pre-render the cgi forest movie and then import to clip studio but I think that has to be a “better way” to do it

Hi can i ask something?? in previous video you mentioned you moved japan before get hired in animation studio, and you said someone who want to get a job in japanimation industry must go to japan first. But When your seeking job period, what kind of visa did you got? travel visa? And how did you live with gengaman’s sallery in tokyo (I assume rent is almost half of monthly income, isn’t it? ) when you were newcomer..?? I’m korean who have 1year assistant directing (tv animation) experience and short genga experience(indipendant film and subcontract of american animation) in animation job, who have 1 short film(i drawed all, 8 minute) and jlpt1. i hope working in japanimation industry so I am plannig to get working holliday visa to seeking job in japan, but have no information about process of foreiner get hired in studio of japan. this is why i asking you with bit of a rude question, i apolosize. but i really need information.
