It’s really cool to see how the GameCube captures the nostalgia of anime from the 90s and early 2000s! I have fond memories of watching anime and other cartoons on both Fox Kids and Tonnami. I remember playing the GameCube demo for Ultimate Muscle at Walmart too. Great times indeed!!!

The best part about reliving my childhood through your videos is the additional memories that come with it. I tried most of these games as a kid thanks to blockbuster and remember the joy of wondering around the isles with my friend for hours looking for games to rent. Good video. It's never gets old seeing how much better Dragon Ball Z Budokai looks on the GameCube than the PS2. Zoids Battle Legends runs really well on Dolphin with decent hardware.

@@GameCubeGalaxy You're welcome! You have fantastic content. The GameCube was my first console in my younger years that really stuck with me. My stepdad even paid for half, which to me, meant the world. Thought I'd check out Zoids Battle Legends to see if it had better performance on Dolphin and because i like mechs, also because I didn't have it in my collection. Runs at 4x Native (1440p) pretty well from my testing. Man, the game is pretty tough. Second mission doesn't joke around!

Digimon World 4 is fun to play co-op. I need to try and get back to it and finish it up. Battle cry is tough at times but can be a lot of fun. I wish we got more Robotech games. Saving the best for last. Ultimate Muscle is a really fun game. The missus is dangerous with random button presses. Welcome to the fox box.

I can definitely see Digimon World 4 being a lot of fun in co-op. Battlecry is a tough one at times, but I always had a blast with it. I agree, there should've been more Robotech games. There was a sequel of sorts called Robotech Invasion for PS2/Xbox, but I heard that wasn't very good, and then there was the GBA version "Robotech: The Macross Saga" which actually got an HD remaster on Switch eShop! Ultimate Muscle is a banger for sure, and definitely had to save that one for last! LOL about the missus with random button presses. I miss the Fox Box...lol. Thanks for checking out the video man!

Another fantastic episode, man the holofoil box art for Budokai 2 is so awesome. It's just a shame it's one of those rare GC games that can't be forced to run in 480p. Digimon World 4 looks like such a huge departure from the first three entries on the PS1 but I cannot deny my love for more Digimon. It wasn't till Cyber Sleuth came out and gave me the kind of game I always wanted from that franchise. I came so close to buying Ultimate Muscle a couple of years ago but the price kept me from going there. Awesome video once again Marcello! Looking forward to seeing you tackle this topic again!

Thank you man! Yeah, the holofoil for Budokai 2 is sweet! Is that a good thing or bad thing about the departure for Digimon World 4? I’m very curious since I’ve never played any prior! Ultimate Muscle is a pricey one, and one I recently nabbed at the retro game store near me, and glad I did! That game is a banger! I've never seen Dragon Ball Z but I'd like to give it a shot sometime. There are so many games for the franchise. Never heard of Medabots... too bad it's dull and dumbed down, I think the premise could be fun. Power Stone is a lot of fun, so Rave Master could be one that I'd enjoy. There's a lot of games I've never heard of on this list. Anime is an entirely different world that I don't have a lot of experience in other than Pokemon.
@GameCubeGalaxy
@GameCubeGalaxy 6 ай бұрын
I think you'd like Dragon Ball Z, as it was a great show for sure. The games are typically good...unless it's Sagas lol. Medabots is painfully bad. I legit was like "dang...if I actually have to review this on the channel one day, this may be one of the most painful games to get through." lol! Rave Master is a fun one, just wish there was more to the arenas themselves. Thanks for checking out the video man!

Watching this again! Looking back at this, the Marvel, DC and Star Wars videos, as much of a bad reputation licensed games usually get (Either because developers/publishers just yank something out of their butts and hoping the company of the IP is satisfied to go "Good enough..." or being rushed to release to tie-in with a debut of a theatrical movie, new series/season, toy line, home video release or holiday season leading to flaws like inconsistent difficulties, underdeveloped aspects, cut content and bugs or limitations of the IPs themselves!), they really give you the chance to be those worlds' characters, relive moments and participate movie and TV events and even make new stories (Sometimes expand the worlds like Star Wars pre-Disney or adding in villains that never appeared in the Raimi Spidey trilogy) exclusive to these games. And for fighting, FPS and sports games, dream matches! Sometimes even the unthinkable like Capcom's crossovers with Marvel and Tatsunoko, Disney and Square's Kingdom Hearts and Bandai's Super Robot Wars. Not only that, but also gives devs some experience and get their names out there. Heavy Iron is known to be the kings of SpongeBob and Pixar games. Avalanche Software developed a decent track record with their ports of various Midway games and what they made with Nickelodeon and Disney and go on to make Hogwarts Legacy. There's also Traveler's Tales with the treasure trove of Lego games! Some of these games sold well causing the company of an IP and the publisher to greenlit a follow-up games or rehired for another game like what happened with Rainbow Studios making Cars Maternational after the original Cars did well and Heavy Iron with SpongeBob Movie after BFBB. Obvious series like Dragon Ball Z Budokai (RIP Toriyama) and both Naruto Clash of Ninja and Ultimate Ninja ended up getting sequels and successor series such as Budokai Tenkaichi and Ultimate Ninja Storm respectively. I know not every game is a winner, but they can be dreams come true from a diehard fans point of view. Of course this is a matter of opinion. Can't wait on potential Disney, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and DreamWorks episodes to go along with a part 2 of anime games!

@GameCubeGalaxy 4 ай бұрын
Glad to hear you enjoyed the episode enough to rewatch it!! You spoke a ton of facts about the aspect of licensed games in general here! I'm genuinely shocked I never played the DBZ games from this era. I played a bunch of Japan only SNES titles, including some fan translations back in the day, but never these & have since played some of the newer titles. I'd love to go back to play them, especially for fun retro weekends. However I've got so many "to be played" games at this point that I think I need to retire just to make a dent.

Unpopular opinion: I do enjoy Dragon Ball Z Sagas, but I think Rugrats: Royal Ransom, Tak and the Power of Juju trilogy, Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons are the more better Avalanche Software-developed GameCube games. I think most of their track-record are porting Midway games to PS1, N64 and Dreamcast and making games based off Disney properties. Hopefully you cover Naruto, Zatchbell and some Japanese exclusive games. Maybe throw in some GBA anime titles as well.

I've played a few of these, budokai 1, 2, rumble arena, and rave master I think rave master is interesting though half cooked, it's a bit too easy to get a useless weapon if yours doesn't spawn right and like... the hammer is alright, but if you get musica's silver, for him it's a spear, for you it's basically just a lump. did like in budokai 2 where you got some odd fusions that I wish had returned in 3, I just find 2's story mode a bit too expansive to go through so I never unlocked most things.
