I love how they visualize the duel in their minds and change stances accordingly off of what they believe their opponent will do. You can tell how they are very evenly matched based on how many times they switch stances. Also, peaches.

"Blue Eye Samurai" is an outstanding show that has come along in a long time. There are a few noteworthy things about it. The orange tint in the glass that Mizu wears is opposite to blue, which makes her eyes appear neutral. Mizu is a masculine name, and combined with her dress code, she is perceived as a man in the narrative perspective despite her feminine voice. Additionally, the fight scenes are modeled after live choreography by martial arts stunt performers, which makes them all the more realistic and grounded.

I didn't notice this til I'd watched the episode several times on various reaction channels. The knife that Mizu uses to cut Hachi's fingers off in the Soba shop is one of the ones that Mizu made as a child. If you pause it at just the right time, you can see Mizu's signature mark on the blade. Makes that 'you're not even worthy of *this* knife comment cut even harder.
