This show is so good definitely exceeded expectations. It's so much better if you've played alot of the games, they nailed alot of the references and little easter eggs.

The series naturally focuses more on the West Coast so you could always react to a lore video summing up the games.

Lucy is a vault dweller- born and raised in a vault that were made before the bombs dropped. Oblivious to what really goes on up above. The Ghoul is a human who has been radiated to the point where they can live a long time. Can regenerate. But the longer they live, they eventually go feral and lose themselves. Maximus is a member of the The Brotherhood of Steel. Religious/cult order who track down old world tech. He’s a squire to Knight Tidus (guy in the armor).

In the brotherhood of steel, you start out as a recruit. Then picked by a scribe based on performance to be a square for a knight(the one with the suit) eventually based on the performance as a squire they will get knighted

So the overall breakdown of the universe is everything was the same as our universe up until the end of World War 2. After the war the entire world embraced atomic energy and the post war aesthetic of the 1950's just stuck around but the technology advanced. Personal robots, fusion powered cars, everything revolved around nuclear power. One of the main differences is in this universe the transistor had never been invented so all the electronics and computers still use the old vacuum tubes hence why all the electronics are big and clunky. For decades the entire world lived in luxury and excess but then we started running out of natural resources. The European Union invaded the middle east to take the oil and China invaded Alaska. The US has been fighting China for 10 years prior to the bombs dropping, pushing them out of Alaska with the newly invented power armor and has invaded mainland China and is pushing back the Red Army. All of society slowly started to unravel due to shortages of nearly all resources and then in 2077 the bombs dropped. Fallout is kinda a take on what people in the 1950's thought the future would look like hence everything looking from the 50's. It's "retro futurism"

As an pretty big fan of the games, I think they did an amazing job! Lots of easter eggs, engaging stories, and great visuals! With this, Arcane, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Last of Us, and One Piece, video game and anime adaptations are doing SOOOO much better than in the past and it's really great to see others that might not have played the games or watched the animes get to experience the worlds you love

One thing I noticed with the bombs is that there's no trail from the missiles flying in. Which means the bombs were likely planted.

It's not stated directly in the show, but every pip-boy can open a vault from the outside, this is a key point for later regarding 32 (they just don't explain it well).

let me tell you, all the mainline fallout games (including and especially new vegas) are life changing experiences 1 and 2 are very old isometric top-down RPGs with amazing stories but tough gameplay 3 and new vegas made the initial jump to first person shooter and are both fantastic (if a bit dated) 4 is the most mechanically refined and makes a lot of improvements in general, great for newcomers to the series and still has a really solid story definitely give at least one of them a shot when you can! i'd personally recommend either new vegas or 4 as i'd consider them the two best in the series and theyre the most referenced games in the show

You should try the game I think you guys would love it and the show is doing really good at portraying the game

Maximus didn't become Knight Titus. Maximus became SQUIRE to Knight Titus. As a squire, he's essentially Titus's apprentice.

Y'all could start playing one of the games before you finish the series, honestly; the show is in the same universe, and has some references to a few things, but it's a standalone story and not based on any of the existing games. The story/characters are brand new to the franchise.

fallout 4 and 3 are great... If you want long history and a lot of secondary mission, fallout 4 (is beautiful), fallout 3 for a more lineal history and some fun shooting..

Okay as a fan & gamer try out fallout 3 & all dlc from the console versions if you're going PC then add mods but for true FO experience do the original story, side quests including MOTHERSHIP ZETA but do the game console versions first!!! Then do the sequel FALLOUT NEW VEGAS; same directions as above but in FONV storyline and dlc; caution though there is a SUPER HARD-CORE GAME MODE THAT TRACK'S EVERY AMOUNT OF YOU(PLAYER) CAN CARRY; so there is a super anal retentive weight tracker that you need to beware of carrying including the ammunition and health (STIM PACK'S) so play FO3 & ALL DLC and then FONV and I have not played FO4 BUT I WILL AVOID FO76 - BUGGY -GLITCHES - AND STORYLINE GETS MESSED UP AND IT'S MULTIPLAYER ON ALL FORMATS INCLUDING PC WHICH MEANS CHEATS HACKS AND MODS SO BE CAREFUL OF FO76 = MONEY PIT = AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
