Bhavish Aggarwal is the Chairman and Managing Director of OLA. He is an experienced entrepreneur who founded Ola Cabs in 2010, which is now India’s most popular ride-hailing service with over 50% market share.
In 2021, Bhavish started Ola Electric, a company focused on electric vehicles. Within three years, Ola Cabs and Ola Electric together are valued at over $13 billion.
His latest venture, Krutrim, launched in April 2023, became India's first AI unicorn. Krutrim is developing a full AI computing stack, including cloud infrastructure, and advanced silicon for data centers.
Bhavish graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, with a degree in Computer Science.
In this edition of the ANI podcast with Smita Prakash, Bhavish shared his vision for India's tech future, critiqued Western tech dominance, and advocated for greater autonomy and data sovereignty in India's AI efforts.
With plans for an IPO and expansions into EVs, Bhavish envisions India leading in technology and societal change. He emphasized the importance of India developing its own tech and cultural paradigms to maintain national data and narrative control.

Chootiya bana raha hai sab ko. He is getting chinese knockoff products design and then manufacturing in India. Which is why Ola scooters have so many quality issues. ola maps seems to be a rebrand. Ola cabs is a uber clone. where they charge 4x for airport drop and pickup. I tried this once. Walked 1 km away from airport and booked a cab for 1/4th the price it showed at airport. Which means they are looting customers. You know who are the real leaders in Indian startup - the flipkart mafia - Sachin, Binny, Amod, Rahul, etc. Guys like Bhavish, Ashneer etc are just loudmouth show offs.

This is where there's opportunity for peer to peer charging businesses like BOLT Earth come in. For 2 wheeler EVs the usecase isn't there for charging facilities outside home or offices. I really admire him for the work he is doing in EV sector for India. But I have issue with two statements: 1) He said back in 2019 no was working on EVs in India. Truth is players like Ather were already doing good work much before him. Athers already started deliveries at that time. 2) When he was working for Microsoft in 2008-2010, did he worked 20 hours a day, 7 days a week. I think answer is NO. This is difference between working for own company and doing job. So he sholudn't expect tapasya from employees unless he is paying extra.

My God! The guy asking questions, keeps interrupting with his own inputs! Just be quiet and let the man in focus speak without interruptions to his thought flow. Why do some interviewers think that they need to loan a word or a phrase or an idea, every few seconds, when the very idea is about listening and learning from the person whom you are interviewing? Is there a compulsion to kind of display one's own "expertise" or desire to show he is no less and can teach a few things to the man in focus? Phew!

Thanks for the very engaging, inspiring and free flowing podcast. Hats off to Bhavish for his vision, drive and most importantly grounding and promotion of Indian philosophy, ancient cultural and dharmic roots. Our sanatana philosophy, yoga, meditation, classical music & mantras give immense strength and power to propel us through the modern world. All we need to do is understand, reconnect & master the knowledge from our ancient past to propel us in future!

Thank you SMITA JI & ISHAAN for this Conversation with BHAVISH ❤️👍 this will go as one of my favourite EPISODE , nice blend of INFORMATION & Many HEADLINES 😀, as discussed INDIA must develop its own technology and cultural model to maintain control over NARRATIVE & DATA. On a lighter note :- One Headline I see “ OLA BHAVISH JI ne Bhole - To End ICE Age Current INDIAN Entrepreneurs must Work all 7 Days & should shift their FOCUS from GOLF to INDIA’S GOAL 😀👍

Wonderful interview and I am super impressed with Bhavish's vision. Amazing and inspiring guy ! One thing I wanted to mention about the interview, Sam Altman clearly did not mean any disrespect to India, he was making a joke and it was not targeted at any country. We cannot keep looking for opportunities to be offended :/

China spend 10% of their GDP + each and every company 10% revenue to R&D sector. But in india govt. Spend 0.1 % only and company zero. (Reality - during congress time import from China and we are in very very bad position to handle). Govt. And private companies are not doing much.

Great, Bharath and desi localization feelin coming back, Interesting.!!! Nation shlould produce multple such people who has innovation, strategic, passionate and entrepreneurship mindset. At the same time, OLA cab, charging 26% from Cab drivers, it is too much. If it is not come down, there is new alternative people may be required.

So true when he says Indian automobile companies have done nothing in terms of research..the three wheeler autorickshaw of Bajaj is absolutely the same as it was 50 years ago, they keep on churning out pathetic 150/125 cc bikes and keep on selling junk.. Eicher atleast does some innovative things with Enfield otherwise the two wheeler segment is pathetic... Especially big players like Bajaj..
