Bhai I really appreciate your content, not because you make good traveling vlogs ( of course your vlogs are amazing) but the thing that attracts me more is you are exploring your own state, your own country. Today only few people know the real value of our own country (state) how beautiful it is. So bro you are doing an amazing job, lots of love from jammu ❤

These formations rock pillars are very unusual, however are very commonly found in the Sahyadri ranges in Maharashtra. These are known as volcanic plugs the molten lava which solidifies and seals volcanoes after volcanic explosions. These lava plugs are harder to erode and so remain as left overs after the surrounding area erodes and hence we are left with these unusual pillar like rock formations on the peaks. These volcanic eruptions that lasted nearly 200000 years and covered whole of Maharashtra. The land burned and was covered in lava a few kilometers thick. Over time most the land eroded and what is now left behind are the volcanic plugs. That is how Maharashtra got its unique landscape known as the Deccan traps and world's second largest known traps. The first is the Siberian traps. However, that is not the most interesting bit in geological history of Maharashtra and India. It is when this event actually happened. India was part of a gigantic continent known as Gondwana (named after Gond tribes found in India ) roughly around 100-140 million years ago. The continent eventually broke up and India broke away from its sister continents of Australia and Antarctica started it journey towards Asia along with Madagascar and Sri Lanka. India traveled at a continental break neck speed of (...) and at some point Madagascar broke away from India. This probably was between 65-71 million years ago. It is an interesting point in time because it coincides with the great Cretaceous-Tertiary (K-T) extinction period of the dinosaurs. The other interesting bit of information is that according to some scholars a meteorite impact, Chicxulub crater, in Mexico's Yucatan peninsula could not have been strong enough to alter Earth's climate and kill of the dinosaurs. However Volcanic eruptions one lasting for nearly 200K, such as the Deccan traps, does have a strong potential to destroy food chains and alter climate globally. One can easily form conjectures and arrive at conclusions that the lava and volcanism in the deccans traps could have contributed to the extinction of dinosaurs. The world of research and researchers is filled with it's own dogmas and ideas are not easily altered or changed. So if the Earth is flat then it will remain flat for a very long time even in face of evidence. The tear of Madagascar away from India that could have lead to the massive volcanic eruptions on India's Deccan plateau, one that lasted for nearly 200K years and is a strong possible candidate, or else India may have created a separate tear on its way towards Asia and was still some distance away from Asia when the Deccan traps occurred. India of course eventually rammed into Asia to raise up the world's highest mountain ranges known as the Himalayas. And that my dear friends is just some of interesting bit of geological history attached to those columnar rock formations when you happen to see them in the Sahyadris. India sits on it's very own continental plate, it is the reason why it is known as the Indian subcontinent. Usually referred to always in metaphorical and cultural terms however it is true in geological terms as well. India is very much a continent like Australia and Antarctica, geologically speaking. Edit: India tore or fractured the crust near ReUnion islands and that is where the volcanic fires raged on it's way to Asia. However, for some reason I like to think that it was really at Madagascar point ...
