Let me tell you that the construction of this fort was started by Kachhwaha Rajput(आमेर का कछवाहा वंश) ruler Raja Man Singh I(आमेर का मानसिंह) and it is also know as Amber Palace(आमेर महल).
Amer Fort (also called Amber Fort or Amber Palace) is a fort situated in Amer, Rajasthan, India. Amer is a town which is situated at about 11 km from Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. Amer town and the Amber Fort were actually built by Raja Man Singh and later additions were done by Sawai Jai Singh. Located in the high ranges of Aravalli, it is the most popular tourist attraction in Jaipur. Amer Fort is well known for its artistic style elements which includes large ramparts and series of gates as well as cobbled paths, the fort faces Maota Lake, which is known to be the main source of water for the Amer Palace.
Amer Palace is known to be great example of Rajput architecture. Some of the buildings of this fort and work have influence of Mughal architecture. Constructed of red sandstone as well marble, the attractiv as well as the opulent palace is made of four floors, each with a courtyard. It consists of the Diwan-e-Aam, or "Hall of Public Audience", the Diwan-e-Khas, or "Hall of Private Audience", the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created with the help of winds which blow over a water cascade within this beautiful palace. Hence, the Amer Fort is also famously known as the Amer Palace. The palace was known to be the residence of the Rajput Maharajas as well as their families. At the entrance of the palace near the fort's Ganesh Pol, a temple is made which is dedicated to Shila Devi, a Goddess of the Chaitanya cult, which was given to Raja Man Singh after he defeated the Raja of Jessore, Bengal in the year 1604. (Jessore is now in Bangladesh). Raja Man Singh had 12 queens and for this reason he made 12 apartments, one for each of his Queen. Each apartment had a staircase connected to the King’s room but the Queens were not allowed to go upstairs. Raja Jai Singh had only one queen and for that reason he built only one room which was equal to three old queen’s rooms.
Amber palace, along with Jaigarh Fort, is situated immediately above on the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of the same Aravalli range of hills. Amer palace and Jaigarh Fort are considered one complex as both of these are connected by a 1.5 km long tunnel. This passage was made as an escape route in times of war for enabling the royal family members and others in the Amer Fort to escape to the more safer Jaigarh Fort. Amer Palace attracts 5000 visitors a day as reported by the Superintendent of the Department of Archaeology and Museums with 1.4 million visitors during the year 2007. In 2013, during the 37th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Amer Fort, along with 5 other forts of Rajasthan, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the group which was called "Hill Forts of Rajasthan".
In the medieval period Amer was known as Dhundar (meaning of which attributed to a sacrificial mount in the western frontiers) and ruled by the Kachwaha Rajputs from the 11th century onwards - between 1037 and 1727 AD, till the capital was moved from Amer to Jaipur in 1727. The history of Amer is linked to these rulers as they actually founded their empire at the town of Amer.

*आमेर/'गोनेर' का इतिहास* Goner(Jpr) History *गोनेर ,घाटगेट जयपुर से 15km दूर गाँव और जगदीश मंदिर की स्थापना सन् 1095में 1000वर्ष पहले आमेर के मीणा राजा शूरसिंह सुसावत ने की थी*। आमेर की स्थापना ई. पूर्व *अंबा मीणा* ने की थी। उनके द्वारा स्थापित आमेर, आमागढ़ किला,अंबा माता,अंबीकेश्वर शिव मंदिर 2000साल बाद आज भी मौजूद हैं। *आमेर 52 मीणा राजाओ की प्रधान राजधानी रही थी।आमेर पर मीणा क्षत्रिय राजाओं ने हजारों वर्षो तक राज किया था*। *कच्छावा राजपुतों ने 11-12सदी में नरवर, ग्वालियर से आकर धोखे से दिवाली पर निहत्थे मीणाओं को मारकर आमेर पर कब्ज़ा किया था*। *आमेर* के मीणा राजा शुरसिंह सुसावत ने *सन् 1095 में गोनेर गांव की स्थापना* कर द्वितीय सुरक्षित राजधानी बनाया, किले महल के अलावा किसानों प्रजा हितषी दैव जगदीश ,विष्णु भगवान का मंदिर बना कर दिव्य मूर्ति स्थापित करवाई। *शुरसिंह मीणा ने आमेर पर सन् 1095से सन् 1145तक राज किया था*। इनके पुत्र भानोराव मीणा को दिवाली के दिन, *सन् 1207में राजपुतों ने धोखे से* मारकर आमेर पर कब्ज़ा कर लिया था। *शूरसिंह मीणा ने आमेंर के दक्षिण में 20किमी दूर घने जंगल में गोनेर गाँव की स्थापना की यहाँ बस्ती कुँए,तालाब,बावडी़,मंदिरो और परकोटे का निर्माण करवाया,सुरक्षित स्थान मानकर, जगदीश मंदिर में दिव्य मूर्ति स्थापित करवाई*। *आमेर* राजधानी नाम के मुताबिक *"गोनेर"* का नाम रखा एक हजार वर्ष पहले यह क्षेत्र घने जंगलो से घिरा हुआ था।जंगल के बीच में यहां एक तालाब था जहां गाये पानी पीती थी। *गोनेर,गौ+नीर अर्थात गायों के पानी पीने का पवित्र स्थान* *गोनेर* गौ अर्थात गोलौक धाम, *गौपुरम्* विष्णु, जगदीश का धाम।राज ज्योतिषियों से राय लेकर आमेर के मीणा राजा ने *गोनेर* का नामकरण किया जो 1000 साल बाद भी प्रचलित है। आमेर के मीणा राजा शुरसिंह ने *गोनेर* के रास्ते में पड़ने वाले 2 और गांवों का नामकरण किया वह है। *सिरौली* गांव एक पहाड़ जिसका सर+ रोली की तरह है।उसका नाम *सरोली* रखा और एक पहाड़ जिसकी आकृति 'कटार' *"दांतली"* की तरह है।उस गांव का नाम *दांतली* रखा। *चांदा मीणा* जागाओ के अनुसार *सिरोली गांव-श्री पाल 'चांदा' मीणा* ने, दांतली -दांतसी,मीणा, रोपाडा़-रोपाल मीणा,हरिपाल मीणा ने -हिंगुण्या।बीरो मीणा ने -बुढ़थल, गोपो-गोनेर, जोगो-भटेसरी, आनो-कान्हो ने-आभानेरी,दौषाराय-दौषा,ताडो़ चांदा ने -तुंगा बसाया। *गोनेर के पास, श्रीपाल 'चांदा' मीणा ने सिरोली गाँव की पहाड़ी के नीचे बस्ती और महलों का निर्माण करवाया,सिरोली के पहाड़ी के ऊपर,एक अंडरग्राउंड अद्भुत चार मंजिला महल और सुरंग का निर्माण करवाया जो की1000साल बाद आज भी मौजूद हैं*। *मीन पुराण* के अनुसार आमेर के मीणा राजा सूरसिंह सुसावत और उनकी पत्नी "बाला बाई" रोज ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में गोनेर जगदीश भगवान के दर्शन करने आते थे उन्होंने आमेर में अंबिकेश्वर शिव और अंबा माता की सेवा पूजा से खुश होकर शिव जी ने आकाश गमन की विद्या प्रदान कर रखी थी। जिसके अनुसार दोनों सशरीर आकाश मार्ग से अपने राज्य के मंदिरों में दर्शन कर वापस आमेंर में चले जाते थे। शिव जी द्वारा यह हिदायत दी थी कि दोनों राजा रानी एक साथ किसी भी मंदिर में दर्शन ना करने जाए अगर गलती से भी चले भी गए तो वह नगरी नष्ट हो जायेगी वे दोनों भी इस बात का विशेष ध्यान रखते थे। दोनों अलग अलग ही दर्शन करने जाते थे। एक बार सन् 1012 में आमेर के मीणा राजा सूरसिंह से गलती हो जाती है।रानी आमेर से गोनेर जगदीश, विष्णु भगवान के दर्शन कर रही थी पीछे से राजा सूरसिंह मीणा भी दर्शन करने आ जाते हैं अंधेरे में सूरसिंह अपनी रानी "बालाबाई" को पहचान नहीं पाते हैं और वहां खड़ी रानी को "बाई साइड में हो जा" कहकर दर्शन करने लगते हैं रानी बालाबाई घुंघट में थी राजा सूर सिंह पहचान नहीं पाते हैं रानी आमेर के महल में रूँठ कर सो जाती है। आज भी आमेर के महलों में बाला बाई की *"साळ"* कमरा मौजूद है। तब राजा सूर सिंह रूठने का कारण पूछते हैं तो सारी बात बता देती हैं।अब अपना पति पत्नी का रिश्ता नहीं रहा! सुर सिंह को भी सारी घटना का पता लगी तो गलती का भी एहसास हुआ शूरसिंह भी वचन के पक्के थे, ईश्वरीय इच्छा समझ कर अपने पुत्र राव भानो-भानोंराव को *आमेर/गोनेर* का राज पाट देकर हरिद्वार हिमालय में तपस्या करने चले गए,बीच -बीच में मिलने भी आ जाया करते थे *मीणा राजा बादाराव से डरकर जयपुर के राजा भारमल ने सन् 1562 में अकबर से जोधाबाई की शादी करनी पडी़ जय जौहार जय आदिवासी

I have visited this place in November 2022. the sesh Mahal was astounding. The view from outside of this fort is unbelievable . Though it was too hot and too much journey and i was totally exhausted due to heat and croud but the experience was unforgettable

Wonderfull and great experience i felt like i was present within the walls when you explained every little details about the fort and its history ! india aims to preserve the rich history to let know coming generations that india was developed and expanded by one of great rulers throughout the timeline from babur to british! once again amazing walkthrough of heritage towards the fort!
