Ok, Anita is a singing legend; her technique, stage presence and range are unmistakably hers but one thing that puts her above soo many is her tone. People, you can not buy tone. You may be able to sing the loudest, screech the balls out of a note and take it to church countless times but it doesn't matter if your tone is "off!" Anita's tone however is truly beautiful, like her. My favourite singer ever.
@slimdudeDJC7 жыл бұрын
That's it, Sir Dave!! Tone is everything. As an instrumentalist, Wes Montgomery was/is incomparable! Not just b/c he played octaves without the use of a stomp box, but he played it all with his thumb!! And the tone made all the difference in the world. Yes, Anita's tone is phenom!!!

While singing, she walked up to the front of the stage and was looking at my date and I, then in a brief pause from singing, I patted my heart to signal that I really loved her singing, she responded by doing the same to me, smiled, then began singing again. I always played this video on the monitor at Blockbuster when I worked on Saturday nights. The customers loved it- I think they felt like they were at a free concert- maybe they even bought more tapes and rentals, lol. Anita's petite size (4' 11") always contradicted her spectacular, gun-blazing contralto, she is visually breathtaking here in a very feminine white suit and dancing skirt. Unforgettable at the 27:56 minute is a lovely seven-minute performance of "'Watch your Step," followed by screams of appreciation from the audience, which grow even louder at the seamless transition to "Sweet Love" at 34:54. THERE WOULD BE NO TONI BRAXTON WITHOUT MISS BAKER
@skidiva16 жыл бұрын
Ms. Baker was supposed record "Love Should Have Brought You Home" for the 'Boomerang' soundtrack. When Babyface sent her the demo she wasn't feeling it and told them to just let the young lady singing on the demo record the song. That young woman was Toni Braxton and she didn't re-record the song for the album. That is the demo recording on the soundtrack.

I am from Bengkulu, a small city in the Sumatra island in Indonesia. I was introduced to Ms. Baker's music when I was still in high school, circa 2007 - 2008 (also the first time I ever heard a singer named Anita Baker). Illegal downloaded music was very popular among youngsters in Indonesia back then, and I listened Ms. Baker's song for the very first time through free download, and that song was You Bring Me Joy. That was the only song available for free on the internet that time, and I was so stunned by the magical voice and musical style of Ms. Baker. A few months later, I started searching out other songs from Anita Baker, from Rapture to Rhythm of Love. Sweet Love, Caught Up in the Rapture, Giving You The Best That I Got, Just Because, Soul Inspiration, Angel, I Apologized are some of the songs that keep stuck in my head when I need time to relax and chill in the middle of the night. The kinda quality I hardly find these days. Bravo to the legend!

Just the best concert in the history of music. There's nothing bad to say about Anita's singing and those who dare say anything bad are just a bunch of idiots who know nothing about music and soul. She's perfect. It's such a delightful experience to listen to any of her songs, and watching her sing and dance stuns the hell out of you. Love her because she's brought so much happiness into my life for so many years.
