❤️😁❤️😁❤️ This was SO much fun!! It was a great refresher for me, especially invisible zippers! Also, I think it is the coolest thing that I now have a sewing machine with a button hole maker! I'm 57 now, but I still have the machine I got for Christmas when I was 14 😁 and it did NOT. It has a wheel to choose the stitches: left, right and ends, but I had to follow my markings on the fabric. By golly I had to do some accurate marking! 🤣🤣 I also just watched what you made in 2019, I believe, where you rocked the plaid? I still CRINGE thinking about the outfit my aunt had me make her that was a dark red plaid and I had no idea about matching plaids! But she loved that outfit! She had me make a lot of her clothes. That really made me feel good😊 I was just thinking during this about how you adjust your patterns to fit your shape. I had no idea about that back when I was making my clothes. You have definitely given me ideas! You see, my problem is directly OPPOSITE yours. I am straight up and down like a popsicle with two sticks for legs. My waist is the same size as my hips!! 🤣😄😂😄🤣 I've weighed 190lbs and I've weighed 130lbs. It doesn't matter. (Right now I'm 152😁) SO you think I should get a pattern size to fit my waist and then draw down to the size that goes with my hips? That's also why I have a hard time buying slacks off the rack. If I get a size to fit my waist, it's huge on me around my bum AND legs. I have back problems: 2 surgeries and a spinal cord stimulator, looking at a possible third. Being basically in a recliner for 12 years made my weight go up, but having the stimulator has allowed me to be more mobile and lose weight. HOWEVER, I have lost a LOT of muscle in my legs and now they are pitifully skinny. I'm in physical therapy working on leg strength so we'll get them back in shape!!😁 I used to hike up and down mountains! I'm looking forward to doing it again! I can't wait to need to make myself a pair of hiking shorts that the legs zip off making shorts, Lord willing!! I love watching you and getting all excited about making clothes again!! I've been browsing patterns like mad!! 🤣😄😂😄🤣 Welp, I've talked your 👀 off! 💡💡💡 You know what, just an idea💡💡💡 I'm generally a size 14-16 off the rack depending. I wonder if you have any friends of a generous or curvy or different shapes? It would be really AWESOME to see you make patterns that aren't so form fitting, but more for them and have them style them! What do you think??
@AnitabyDesign
@AnitabyDesign 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rhonda! So, about the pattern alteration suggestion to accommodate your shape. Yes, what you have mentioned should work just fine. That's the beauty about sewing our own clothes. We get to adjust them to fit our unique bodies. About sewing for my friends, I am TOTALLY; selfish when it comes to my sewing (being honest).

Love this video. Question(s): how can the skirt be modified not to have a pleat? Next, can the skirt be modified not to have the belt loops? Thanks much
@AnitabyDesign
@AnitabyDesign 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely. You can just skip the steps for the belt loops. When cutting the skirt, just remove the extension for the pleat and just sew a slit because you'll need it in order to walk in the skirt.

I stumbled across this video a month or so ago and loved the pattern and your excellent tutorial so much that I ordered the pattern and some nice wool mix fabric. Started it yesterday and pieces cut out and ready to sew. Can you please answer a couple of questions? Did you interface both sides of the belt or just one? And there is a piece in the pattern called 7 Guide C but I have no idea what it’s for! It doesn’t show in the fabric layouts to cut it.
@AnitabyDesign
@AnitabyDesign 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lorna! Yes, I interfaced both sides of the belt. Piece 7 is a guide for belting, that's a material that is used to insert inside the belt for stability. Since I didn't find the belting width I needed, I used interfacing to stabilize the fabric instead and omitted the belting piece. I hope this helps.
@LornaKelso

@AnitabyDesign
@AnitabyDesign 4 жыл бұрын
Great questions Lynette! My zipper foot that came with the Baby Lock works for both regular and invisible zippers. I highly recommend using an invisible zipper foot, but you can do it without if you don't have one. You just have to be careful that you don't sew too close to the zipper teeth. Yes, I changed back to the regular presser foot to Make the bar tack.
