Ataturk had addressed to mothers of soldiers who had lost lives in Gallipoli campaign in WW1. “Those heroes who shed their blood and lost their lives! You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country to of ours. You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well. Atatürk, 1934

@@sahinberg He won the enemies, the sultanate didn't have any power, he had the respect from the public, he could have easily say "Right, I earned to be the new sultan. The ottoman empire is no more, it is Mustafa empire from now on." People have been ruled by Monarchy for thousands of years, they have no request or even knowledge of Republic, so they would just accept him as the new monarch. He refused all that power though, he wanted to build a republic and fought with people who still wanted monarchy over republic. There is still people who wants monarchy which reflects the today's government running for 20+ years. People resist to change, it's in the nature and they resisted and still resist to the change of governance. So, it wasn't an easy transition and we didn't have a second party until 1945. That wasn't Atatürk's fault though. He tried everything he can until he died. The other people after him wasn't as strong willed and farsighted as him though so newly built republic struggled to thrive. Keep in mind though, none of those people have any idea what it means to live in a republic, what it should look like. They all lived in monarchy for their whole life until Atatürk insisted on republic.

Atatürk's words about science: For everything in the world, for civilization, for life, for success, the truest guide is science. Seeking a guide other than science and science is heedlessness, ignorance, and heresy. " Our true mentor in life is science. I hope that first my country, Turkey, and then the whole world will remain with science. Thank you very much for introducing our country well :)

The architecture of Anıtkabir actually inspired by Hittite architecture. The lions, statues, firezes all of them. The place really unique in that regard so you won't see something like that anywhere.

Some Turkish people don't deserve Atatürk. Because he was a great leader and he loved so much his nation. But some Turks didn't understand him.
