A thorough, welL-explained, well-shot and well-edited video. I would've liked to have seen the changelo when you when to do the firmware update. Anker doesn't share what changes are made in firmware updates on their website. If you don't own one, you don't get to find out.
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
They do have some change logs, but they are not very detailed. The only difference for me was that with the old firmware, it would not run certain refrigeration compressors, after the update it would. In my emails with them, all they would tell me is that it was a change in the "Protection algorithm"

Great video. You provide a smorgasbord of good for thought. I always thought that Anker offered some great products after using a few of their battery banks. I had an idea that they could produce some quality battery banks of much larger size. Your video and a few others seem to validate their quality products.

I'm glad it was helpful! I do like Anker and have enjoyed reviewing their products, I'm excited to see what they release next! The release of the 767 did have its flaws, however, the 757 was pretty close to perfect. I"m not sure why they made these mistakes with the 767, but, I suspect it was to get it to market early due to growing competition. I'll see how the next product release goes. I hope they don't start to back slide on quality.

23:16 If you want to run your AC off of this thing, you need to wire in a capacitor bank between the AC and the 767. Make a decent size bank to offset the indicial current load. If you use super capacitors, which is ideal, add a dedicated solar panel array to keep them charged up. It's the compressor that's tripping the unit. The cap bank should be wired in so it feeds the compressor and charges when the AC unit is running.

Thanks for the very valuable info. One thing I’ve not found is overall dimensions. I like the idea of a simple solution to powering a truck camper. I have not been able to determine the device’s size; I would like to store it in our campers portable generator compartment. BTW - Did I hear you mention a new “Kingstar”?
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
Hello, I found the dimensions you are looking for: 20.7" x 15.5" x 9.8" We did have a new Kingstar, but, we actually returned it because our life is going in a different direction. We simply didn't have the time to use it. I'll be making a video to explain all of that in the near future. It's been a bumpy spring for us and we had to make some life changes that didn't include the Kingstar anymore. However, If you are still looking for information on it... A friend of ours has basically the same exact Kingstar and is already making content about it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mMeHZtKrmK3blYU.html Check them out for more Kingstar info.

Great video! I've seen a couple other reviews talking about an issue with the quality of the power coming off the inverter that affected the ability of the unit to power pumps and such. I'd be curious to see if the firmware updates fix the problem they were having. I'm really interested in this unit but I'm going to wait for the bugs to get worked out. I don't have an immediate need and somebody else might release something absolutely fantastic in the interim.

@Stonyboot

You’d need to calculate your total load. Also, location, sun angle, season, clouds, etc all impact solar efficiency. It depends on the type of fridge and furnace. It’s more complicated than a yes or no answer.

Great review! Question for you though, Im thinking of a specific use case. If you leave it plugged in to a load permanently. Is it possible to have both shore AC charging and solar running at once? And can you leave it like that running without intervention? it would be nice to have it plugged in and providing a few hundred watts of solar power while keeping the grid as Plan B

Hello storybook excellent video on the Anker new release 760 2400watts power bank generator. Please very near the end off the video you mentioned the last problem with the solar panels branch connector lead xt60 lead you said that is a hazard and according to a other KZfaqr on this same issue can give a electric shock with the contacts not protected and could be fatal if touched while plugged in to voltage. Are you aware please if ANKER HAVE REDESIGNED THE LEAD and solved this issue. Thanks Paul
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
Last I heard was “it’s being looked into” I really have no idea what the solution is. You can buy an MC4 branch adapter and adapt it to the XT-60 connection on the Anker. Several KZfaqrs have done that. I’m not sure if I’ll be using solar with my setup yet. So it hasn’t been a priority. Stay tuned as my trailer setup is still evolving.

I'm in uk and this 767 is a strong contender for me to purchase soon. Right it the last few seconds you said something that really interested me, you said "it can be used in any orientation" ..... so can you just confirm. .... You can have it stood in wheeling position or stood on it's end or stood on it's back, it makes such a difference if you answer yes to all those as space in my van is at a premium. Thanks in advance.
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot 11 ай бұрын
I’d email Anker to be sure… but, yes you can use it in its normal orientation, on its side, etc. It’s a sealed Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, so no risk of spilling. The only real consideration is airflow. The air flows from one side of the unit to the other, you would want the air to either flow side to side, or from bottom to top. Heat rises, so you want the fan to be pushing the heat up. Or you make the cooking fan push the heat down, it will be fitting against convection and might lead to reduced cooling. Other than that, you can use it in any position as far as I know. But, just ask support for the official answer.

I got my 767 a few weeks and my issue is the opposite. I get 'Open Ground' on AC (the outlet I used was not grounded) and then on Battery Power I get 'Hot/Neutral Reversed'. For point of reference, I own a 757 as well and it shows 'Open ground' when on battery. Anker said the Receptacle Testers are not made for Battery power testing and should only be used with AC power as they can provide unusual results otherwise.. I told them my 'Hot' light on 767 with 'Hot/Neu Rev' was flicking, but they did not seem to think it was an issue. I am not sure if I can agree with their assessmen,t. I have been trying to research if it is normal for a Solar Generator to do this and some people say should be 'Open Ground' on battery and others say 'Hot / Neu Rev' is normal as well so it is hard to say what is 'normal' IMHO. I also have a JBL 710 Party Speaker which has a 800 watt inverter built into it and when I first tried it with the 767 it had a 'humming sound' in the speaker (usually indicates issues with clean Sinewave). Once I turned both units off and back on, it never did it again, but makes me wonder does the unit have a flaw with the Sinewave itself? They told me the power draw was probably too much for the 767 and I told them even if it was double the power (1600 watt) the station should handle that easy! As far as the AC and other things that 'stutter' when running from the Power station, the newest firmware is supposed to fix that and it is a know issue. I do know that for some ACs like a campers 13,500 or so, you can add a 'slow start' for them to work. I got the Anker 767 on sale for $1600.00 (down from 2k), but I am still wondering if it would be better to send it back and order the new Jackery 2000 Plus (on sale currently for 2k). The Jackery 2000 Plus allows you to get up to 24KWH if you want by adding multiple batteries and another unit, it has a max output of 3000 watts vs the 2400 watts on the Anker and its MAX watts is 6000 watts for Surge (Anker is 3400 I believe) and people said they can use it without a 'soft' start on their campers AC. What do you think?

Would this be a good back up for a home kitchen refrigerator? Roughly how many hours would this unit keep it running before needing to be recharged ?
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot 11 ай бұрын
It would be a great backup for a fridge! As for run time, it would depend on MANY factors. Wattage, cycle time, temperature setting of the fridge/freezer and ambient temp of the room the fridge/freezer is in. An average fridge/freezer uses 350-780 watts, with a 35%-50% duty cycle. So lets take the middle of these numbers. 560 watts at a 42.5% duty cycle Duty cycle refers to the proportion of time a device is active compared to the total period under consideration. It's often expressed as a percentage. If a device is operating at a 42.5% duty cycle, this means it's active and consuming its full power for 42.5% of the time. The rest of the time (57.5%), it's inactive and consuming no power (assuming the device completely turns off when not active). So, to calculate the average power consumption over time, you'd multiply the full power (in this case, 560 watts) by the duty cycle. Here's how you'd do it: 560 watts * 0.425 = 238 watts So, on average, this device would consume 238 watts over the course of its full duty cycle. In this case, the Anker has a 2048 watt-hour battery and a fridge that consumes 238 watts. To find out how long the device can run on the battery, you'd divide the total energy in the battery by the rate at which the device uses energy. Here's how you'd do it: 2048 Wh / 238 W = 8.6 hours So, the fridge could run for approximately 8.6 hours on a fully charged 2048 Wh battery. This does not factor in an approximate 10% efficiency loss from the inverter.

Thanks for the awesome reply and calculations. This is very helpful. In the end, having this unit as a back up is better than no back up at all. Plus a fridge does not have to run full time if in an emergency situation. You can let go for a few hours and then give it some power for a few hours. As long as it’s kept closed and opened only when necessary. Or buy two units and toggle between both. Also pray for some sun during the day too!!😁

I have a strange situation, I purchase a Sperry GB wiring tester and when I plugged it in to the 767 running on battery power only it showed the error of hot grd/neu reversed. So, I tested it with a window unit a/c and surprisingly the a/c ran perfectly! Never got the weird readings, the shaking of the compressor, I tested the unit plugged in and unplugged and got same result. Now I’m confused, could the tester be wrong?
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot 10 ай бұрын
That sounds about right. The shaking compressor and issues with A/C are related to software updates. The polarity reversal is a hardware problem inside. It occurred with early model unit. The reverse polarity won't prevent anything from running, it's just not "correct". You can contact support and they will replace the unit. I just got mine back and will be doing an update video soon.

Wow! So during very high load the voltage drops from 120v to 80v. That's 66.6% of the supply voltage! I'm sure a hairdryer fan can just slow down, but what about a microwave with electronics, timers, etc. The moral of the story seems to be - best avoid very high (huge) demand!

WHAT CAUSED FOR SHUTTING DOWN OF THE ANKER? WHAT WAS THE SOLUTION BESIDES THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE ?????
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
It was a software issue related to the “protection” algorithm. It was only a problem with the US 120 volt models. The European and Asian 220/240 volt units had no issue. That’s why they purchased the same A/C I was using to make sure they had the correct test method to isolate the issue.

I heard of a 3500 recharging generator already and guaranteed then I heard about even higher recharge rate put the first recharge rate I heard of was like 1500 *then it was 3,000 times then it was 3600 time I'm waiting for a 4500 recycling charging time. Pretty soon I'm going to start buying generators it doesn't have a battery attached to it or inside it but where you have to buy battery packs for it. Because the generator will last 30 plus years I mean my inverters last 35 + years I know a generator without a battery will last just as long if not longer since they're built better. Of course I am going to buy generators they also have the bet he's attached to them just for the difference and I also need the power. I do plan on buying the anchor but mostly I see the airport show me the smaller anchor one but I want the one you're reviewing basically so when I find and when I can afford it I'll probably buy it and it's battery as well otherwise it doesn't mean too much to me I'll get it known what would give me and how long it's going to last before it will have to be recharged try never to use more than half the power it offers to make it last longer. So before this video starts you tell me the full capabilities of how long the generator last without a battery and with the battery and what you give me a better idea what I'm going to use it for. Because as I buy generators I'm going to have to break up my house in two different situations for the generators to run because most generators will not run everything put together run one thing one major thing and some smaller things but not all three major things or all the on major high-wattage things. Without all the big complaint is in a couple other I watch things a 2000 watt would better than everything else in my house for the most part maybe not quite but maybe two of them would. So what I'm going to do 3 different generators and maybe have to get two of them make 240-volt for each of them the other two would actually be 120-volts and if I get split air conditioner I have to get more of them cuz each two units would run two or three of them I don't have to get several of them gotta run several different rooms each. But I worry about that time when it comes. But I'll get a generator to run all the lights in the house just the lights and add a few things to it since all my lights at 13 watts so hook up to plug into it from the house to run minor loads but something like a TV computer and clock alarm maybe a little vacuum cleaner or something like that. All be 120 so I just need to be one generator with batteries or a battery if it's the anchor generator ankle last through a hole worst time of the year three and a half weeks when the clouds cover the sky I'm very little power comes through the solar panels because it has to handle Wisconsin weather I have to get two of those generators and three batteries use one Inca generator to charge all the batteries and won the power of the house and charged batteries when it can when we get sun ☀️🌞 of course I pray you find a little bit of use for the other generator. But I'll turn around and get a generator just to run the upstairs outlets and out actually get to for that for when winter comes we have to use the big power instead of just a little power there might be a couple electric heaters going then for a little bit more heat if it's needed which adds up to 3000 watts for two electric heaters put together but I have to think of a little bit higher because all the other power that would also be used which would not be actually too much 356 watts something or a little more put something that's not worth the big generator time otherwise but might be worth a 2000 watt or better. Look up three different generators bigger than 3000 Watts to run three different parts of my downstairs downstairs. And then three big generators to run my three big loads NF course these three generators are probably have to have a pair to make 120 to 240 volt and I will have couple small loads on it cuz it has 120 volt as well but nothing that would drain it a hundred percent dead in a 24-hour and I'll buy extra generators just recharging the batteries for when the sun is out for when there is no sun in the sky because of Stormy weather that can't be avoided.
