I heard Joan Rivers make an argument for fur coats once being okay. She said no one complains about a leather jacket so why should they worry she has a fox fur coat. The problem is people don’t eat the animals at fur farms. It’s not like leather where it’s left over animal skins you have from a cow you ATE. I have NEVER had an issue with rabbit fur because often the rabbits the fur comes from are being farmed and eaten. So I’m happy we use their fur and don’t just waste it. But a minx, fox, chinchilla etc isn’t being eaten. It’s just being killed for the fur. Which we only want for aesthetic purposes. That’s not a justified reason to kill an animal. Feeding yourself is. Just wanting to look fancy and stylish isn’t. If people like fur they need to get rabbit fur and stop buying any other kind!

I don't think she's a good person or should've been allowed to force people into using fur. HOWEVER. Faux fur and pleather are honestly less ethical than just using the real hides we get as a byproduct of farm and slaughter. Should we reduce the amount of cattle we lean on for food? One thing I want to point out about ruining people’s fur coats to make a statement is that *this doesn’t accomplish anything*. Because someone’s coat is ruined, the wearer will most likely just toss it in the trash and purchase a new one. People want to fight against animal cruelty but then don’t stop to think that these actions ALSO contribute to it. So not only does an animal get killed for its fur, but then the person that ruins the coat takes any use it had and makes their death even more senseless. Great job caring so much. Also, just don’t be an entitled prick by ruining people’s shit especially if you can’t afford to replace what you’ve ruined.
