Yup. When I counted six, I immediately thought, "Six Flags Over Texas." So I knew it was Austin. Of course, having lived in Texas for 46 years didn't hurt either. The irony there is that I've never been to Austin.

If you catch the picture before it crops, you can see the flag of Texas right above the panels. Also, Six Flags over Texas, Six Flags. Yea.

My daughter lives in Austin. The six panels, and the six flags, reference the six countries/nations that at one time or another have possessed the land where Texas is located. Texas has been claimed by or part of Spain, France, Mexico, itself (prior to being the Lone Star State it was the Lone Star Republic), the United States and the Confederate States. Each panel depicts the symbol of one of those.

Definitely a facepalm moment. Not only is Six Flags Over Texas fairly well known, but in the first picture you can easily see the (very very distinctive) Texas state flag.

That was an easy one. Texas is notorious for having the biggest capitol building. Plus the 6 seals are the 6 different countries Texas has been apart of. A harder question would be to name all 6 countries

I could tell it was Texas ("six flags") by the ridiculously high dome. Apparently the Texan leaders at the time wanted the top of the dome to be higher above ground than the U.S. Capitol - - which it is. But since the building itself is much smaller, it looks really odd. But that's Texas for you. Same with hats and belt buckles. Go figure.

Texas fought for the confederacy in the American Civil War. That's one of the 6 flags. Pretty sure that qualifies it as part of "The South" pretty conclusively. If that's not enough though, then consider that of all the state capitals, Austin is the second southernmost at 30.267 N latitude, just barely beating Tallahassee at 30.438. The only capital further south is Honolulu at 20.307, the only one in the tropics.
