Mrs.DiGilio! I'm sure you don't remember me but, you were my 2nd-grade teacher! I'm currently in school right now for adolescent social studies and it's so funny to think I clicked on a random youtube video to see one of my teachers. Thank you for not only teaching me when I was in second grade but now again in my last year of college!

Hey Elizabeth!!! Of course I remember you! How are you? I'm so happy you messaged me and I can't believe you are in your last year of college! Gosh...how the time has flown! I hope you are well and I am so grateful that you messaged me! xoxoxoxxo

Thank you for taking the time to help others!!!! And people think teaching is easy. It really is like brain surgery because none of it is intuitive. It's extremely complicated; full of nuances and aspects that need to be adapted in a class for 30 different learners, DAILY. It's ongoing work that needs constant prepping. Teachers' nerves are constantly being tested. Not only do we have to teach every little minutiae ever imagined, but we also have to SEARCH for, and many times purchase, materials to teach. This really is a job for a Teacher and a secretary. One human alone cannot maintain this lifestyle for too long without mental affliction and family deterioration.

Thank you for explaining the difference. I usually use Close Reading and I'm learning about Guided Reading instruction. I was getting a little confused about the two. This helped clear it up.

Thank you Anna. Could you please post a video about the guided reading space organization (materials and other supplies)? Thank you.

When I was shown one specific method of guided reading everything was front loaded everything was given and they continually told the student to guess, I am glad to hear/see that it's not how you interpret guided reading

I just signed up to have access to guided readers resources. However, I find the level A books to be a bit challenging for beginning first grade.

Hi Anna, thank you for sharing your insightful knowledge and experience. I'm in my 2nd year of teaching in New Zealand. What stage/age do you recommend introducing close reading?
@englishmadeeasy14234 жыл бұрын
Yes, I would like to know this too..

How can we purchase the differentiated close reading passages that you use in this video? It looked like you had leveled passages. I have purchased the Year-Long bundle but they are all one level which is tough for some of my 2nd graders. I would love differentiated passages like you show here! Thank you for another great video!

Anna DiGilio Hi Anna. I just found your channel. You are amazing!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I am a first year second grade bilingual teacher and I feel identified with how you felt at the beginning of your teaching career. Plus, I feel overwhelmed by the fact that we have to teach in English and Spanish. However, I think the biggest challenge I have is that 80% of my kids are newcomers with no previous or interrupted education. I will be following your suggestions. I hope there was good material like yours in Spanish too. Thank you again. BTW, what do you do for your whole group instruction?

Anna DiGilio and another question: how do you work the guided reading and close reading? One week/day guided reading one week/one day close reading?
