The only sign of life on the island is a cat patrolling its territory. This once was a bustling naval base, complete with handsome state buildings and comfortable private housing. Now, all that remains is a sad beauty to remind us of those times. Perhaps the saddest sight of all is that of the derelict elementary school (although there is still a tiny one on the island). As ever Anna, your videos display not just the visually attractive, but hint at the story behind.

木造の校舎に子供のころ通っていた幼稚園の校舎を思い出しました。 父の小学校でもあった建物ですが、故郷を離れている間に取り壊されました。 新しいことを取り入れて順応していかなくては、という思いもあれば、 古いものが忘れ去られていくのを見て何も感じないわけにはいかない。 今、自分が立っているその場所から一歩も動かれない感覚になることがたまにあります。

本島に住んでいるものですが この映像を見て感動し 改めて本島の良さに気づけました！ ありがとうございます。

立派な歴史が受け継がれている島なのでしょう。瀬戸内には沢山の島があり、それぞれに歴史や特色があるということは聞いております。実は私も瀬戸内海に面した地に住んでいますが、訪ねた事はありません。 横浜生まれの私の目には最初のうちは瀬戸内という海域が少し奇異に感じられたりもしました。 最近では国際美術展などで島々への来訪者も増えていると聞きます。このような立派な街並みを守る努力も必要ですね。

Another fantastic video, Anna. I have to go to work! I've already watched it twice and I will certainly watch it again so I can absorb all of the goodness... as well as the sadness. You see, I am a middle school teacher. I commented a while back on one of your videos on how happy I was to see the village school. Now you show us one going to seed. Too bad that it couldn't be preserved or repurposed. Still, it has a lot of memories attached to it and you show it beautifully. Kasashima is lovely. I especially like the old-fashioned lamps. As a model builder, I appreciate the little details of the nooks and crannies of buildings and the spaces they occupy. I have essentially a small village with a shrine that I hope to build this summer as I have the time. Your videos show me so much detail! The Yoshida residence and the temples are, as always, exquisite. I especially liked seeing the old Edo-era government offices (Shiwaku-kinbasho). You have given me something of a research project! Now I have to look into the Shiwaku Suigun Navy. Thanks again, Anna. Your work always amazes me. I hope I am saying this corrctly. Anata no shigoto wa itsumo watashi o odoroka semasu!

こんばんは😊廃校、なぜこうも何もかもそのままのまま、もぬけのからになるのだろうと不思議に思います。ある日忽然と人だけが消えたみたいです。今回、前後のシーンへのつながりもすごく自然でよかったです。船を見送り波打ち際も好きです。吉田邸の描写も額縁の絵のようでした。そこから回想シーンのように静止画が続く構成もすごくよかったです。 私がAnnaさんの作品に惹かれるのは、まさにタナトスだからだと思い至りました。最初は風のようだと思い、神の視線のようだと感じてきましたが、この完全なる安定はやはり廃墟と同じです。あるいは場所が持っている記憶みたいな痕跡です。たぶん人の姿が見えないから、人だけが忽然と消滅したように感じてしまうのもあるのだと思います。個人的な感想なので、失礼があったらお許しください。

I love the local culture of Japan. A country with a beautiful history, I hope one day I spend time in a Japanese village and enjoy its nature. I can't go without saying that the Japanese people are respectful. I love Japan .. from Turkey.

２～３年前、瀬戸内芸術祭で本島に行きました。古風で雅な街並みは時が止まった世界のようで、島の各所に展示されたモダン・アートとの対比が鮮やかでした。 吉田邸の床の間には若冲の鶏図２面が無造作に掛けられていて、心ゆくまで眺めることができました（10:09～画面の右端の掛け軸がそうです）。

「世界の中心で愛を叫ぶ」のロケ地、香川県・庵治町には3度ほど家族で旅行の合間に行って、あのあたりの山の風景が独特で素敵で、石屋さんが多いのを憶えています。そこの行きつけの香川うどんが美味しいのも…瀬戸内海には魅力をとても感じます。二女が高校生で、香川か島根の大学に行く可能性もあり、なんか楽しみです。また、瀬戸内の島々にも行ってみたくなりました！！

またリクエストが叶いました。 ありがとうございます。 今回も素晴らしい天気に恵まれましたね。 私は本島を自転車でぐるっと一周し、笠島地区を周っただけなので(文字通りの一周です)、廃校の中や吉田邸の中は全く見ていませんでした。 特に廃校は通りかかっただけで中が見れるとも思いませんでしたよw 吉田邸は船で渡る前に確かパンフレットを貰った記憶があります。 なのに何故か入りませんでした。 とても立派でしたね。 見るんでしたよw 島の外周道から山の方に行くと良さそうな神社やお寺があるのは知ってましたが、とにかく一周したかったので、全く寄らず正覚院も見てませんでした。 なので今回は私が行った時には見れなかった所をいっぱい見せてもらいました。 本当にありがとうございます😊 青鬼集落の返信コメントを見たら、次回は桜動画🌸に期待が持てそうです。 とても楽しみにしています♪ ＊ 一都三県も解除されたので、ずっと前にも一回書きましたが、もう一回リクエストをしておきたい場所があります。 そこは千葉県香取市の佐原です。 Annaさん好みの古風な街並みがとても素敵な場所だと聞いています。 今後、関東の方を周る予定が出来たら、是非お願いします🥺

この本島は香川県丸亀市に属する島なんですね。いつか丸亀には行ってみたいと思っていましたが小豆島の他にもこういう島があるのは知りませんでした。途中出てくる水見色小学校は映画「機関車先生」のロケ地とか、観光案内には老朽化の為教室への入室は不可とありましたが特別に許可を頂いての撮影だったのでしょうか。いずれにしましても保存の為の改修をしない限りいつかは朽ち果ててしまう建物の内部をこの時期に撮影できたのは貴重でしょうね。島全体も瀬戸内の穏やかな気候と相まってゆっくりと時間を刻んでるような感じがしてとても心が安らぐ感じがしました。 またひとつ瀬戸内の新たな発見をさせて頂きました。ありがとうございます。
