The Lab is our weekly office rave up powered by Void Acoustics where we live stream some of the biggest and best names in dance music from genres across the board. Taking control of the club in the corner of our office this Friday is the wonderful Annie Mac.
Since first appearing on BBC Radio One back in 2004 Annie has established herself as one of the biggest names in British dance music. Her weekly show has consistently broken some of the freshest talent around with artists such as Duke Dumont, Rudimental, and Disclosure all getting their first major breakthrough on her show.
This week Annie Mac will release her latest compilation ‘AMP 2014’, a collection of the year’s biggest tracks featuring: Caribou, Gorgon City, Ten Walls, Little Dragon and loads more. Come December Annie Mac hits the road for her latest tour accompanied by Hannah Wants, Tourist, Lxury and AMP resident Monki.

Yeah they are as that's why you go and see them, but when people day she is a good dj then why is she? Doesn't produce, remix, can't dj part from beat matching, so becoming a dj isn't just beat matching. Have a look at 2manydjs, Boyz noise, Oliver heldens and fatboy slim can do it all and are my top 4 btw haha!

If that's your idea of a DJ fair enuf, you need to explore. She advertise's people's music which isn't a bad thing, but she isn't a top DJ!

Nothing in my opinion beats the start or this set is incredible i remember the day i heard this when it was posted i was driving and well meant to be working 😂 but had a longer lunch than am paid for 😂 and it was the best rave in the middle of nowhere Scotland by myself... take me back

I think most of the people making rude comments are jealous that she is a better DJ than them (Regardless of the medium). It's good to see a female DJ who is just that, not a model with a premixed/pre-programmed set. The mixing is spot on, couldn't fault it, especially for a proper set on CDJ's, not an long drudgery of the same tracks played by everyone else with endless drop after bloody drop.

Thats your opinion, her music is bland to me. I find the music a bit sparse to be honest. A drumloop and a bassline with some vocal samples thrown on top. Most of the tracks in her set could be made using a ten channel daw. I prefer music with a bit more going on.

With the advent of Traktor and Serato and their ability to do all the beat-matching for you, DJs need something to do for the other 3 minutes before the tune ends. I get that, but this really has put the fake mixer dial grab into overdrive. Leave the dials alone, they're fine, just like the last time you touched them and didn't move them. That being said, I bloody love Annie. Awesome set by one of my favourites. Never disappoints.

Nothing worse than when a tune drops and you've cut out a frequency range and not remembered to bring it back. It's just a habit DJs pick up from wanting the sound to be perfect.

Not sure why she deserves so much credit, she doesnt produce any tracks, she just uses other popular house music, transitions are supet easy if you actually dj at home, her sets are fun but dont think she deserves any greater credit.
