I love how they animated Senbonzakura as individual petals now instead of one singular wave and just a few outlines. I know the old anime didn't do it because it would be expensive as shit but I do appreciate the budget upgrade in TYBW lmao

Rasotengai was the power Uryu used to animate his body against Mayuri and said the Quincies use it to fight till their bodies are turned to dust. Similarly, he mentioned in the last episode that the "vollstandig" is an evolved version of the "letzt stil" which is what Uryu calls it when he removes the glove against Mayuri, and you can see that the vollstandig was also initiated with a glove!

You guys never disappoint with paying attention to detail. I don't blame you for not remembering that move that makes them fight even if their bodies are crushed. It was only mentioned once with the first fight with Mayuri and Uryu never used it again.

[Tidbits & Clarifications] - The Bankai being stolen is particularly messed up because it's quite literally stealing a part of a shinigami's soul. Dying without it means dying as an incomplete being. - Renji isn't actually weak at all, auidences tend to forget that he's 1 of the few Lieutenants to even reach Bankai yet. The issue is that he often is placed against unfair odds. He fought Ichigo who's the MC, he then fought Byakuya his Captain! then he fought Aizen and later fights an Espada (Beings thought to be above Captain level)...The two fair matchups he's had ended in his Victory. - Quilge shouldn't be able to get back up but he uses, Ransotengei, an ability that Uryu used to move his body in spite of Mayuri's nerve paralyzation, Mayuri explained it as a Rare Quincy Technique that allowed them to forcefully fight until they turned into dust - Many argue that Byakuya should have let Renji use his bankai seeing as though Byakuya is more powerful, but that's why his decision is logical. Byakuya without a Bankai is more useful than Renji without a Bankai. (Also the Captains all using Bankai was better explained or expressed in the manga, they practically all came to the same conclusion)

There was a line in the Manga that I wish they'd kept in the Anime, where Renji offered to test them by using his Bankai first, but Byakuya told him no, that Renji wouldn't be able to force the quincy to show all their cards without his Bankai, but that Byakuya was confident he could do so himself.

I wonder if Byakuya activated his Bankai instead of Renji because renji’s wasn’t strong enough to FORCE the Quincy to seal/steal it. Another interesting fact: the kanji for Bankai begins with the symbol of Ichigo’s sword guard, 卍. The Quincy’s are based on Germans and now they’re symbolically “stealing” the swastika and using it to enact genocide against shinigami and hollows. The same way that Nazi Germany “stole” this symbol from eastern cultures and twisted it into something evil.

My boy *Kira* couldn’t even swing his blade 😢 but that set the tone for this war, dudes had plenty screen time and they got him OUTTA here ☠️

Next 3 episodes are probably some of the best in the entire series. Honestly may favorite stretch of the story so far.

I find it pretty good that they stole the 4 most known captain Bankais! And the end, the Quincy can move and block Ichigo thanks to the same move Ishida used against Mayuri ; Quincies use Reichi's threads to move themselves like a puppet

you know I was always a little annoyed that Byakuya never even tried using Kido. While he does use Bankai a lot, he rarely starts a fight going straight to Bankai. They did that in the Fullbring arc too, that he went into Bankai very quickly, without trying any Kido first. Here it annoys me even more, that so many captains were kind of reduced to their Bankai. It's even worse with Soi Fon, who doesn't even like using her Bankai. Anyway...I love this arc, just that part I was always a bit disappointed about.
