I started in the late 90’s when pine was like gold. I told my dad that I wanted to go to college, and he showed me his check from the pine mill. Back then tree length pine logs was almost $70 per ton and red diesel was 50 cents per gallon. Truck drivers were a dime a dozen ... damn things have changed!

Bobby you can't blame Washington. Politics shouldn't have been discussed. The oil companies went before the Senate. They told the Senate that they WERE not going to lower the price but give it to their Republican investors. So you parked your trucks for the rich to get richer. That is not what our Senator's are there for they are to help the people. The GOP won't help us.

You will never here on the news that there is government aid for truck drivers, loggers, etc because of this or that, but you will here about those farmers getting aid again and again. Heck the government pays farmers not to grow crops....!! My grandfather was a big Tyson chicken farmer and my uncle owns a huge dairy farm in PA. I know all about the handouts that farmers get ....and I don't blame them for taking it, anyone would. But it is not fair. But loggers suck it up and work that money out cause we are used to being shit on from the start.
@kenraterink
@kenraterink 2 жыл бұрын
The government subsidies don't come close cover that equipment, or land... virtually every farmer I know is in debt... when it's $300,000 for a tractor and $150,000 for a manure tanker, you burn 10 gal/ hour fuel plus pay the guy running it that is all expenses that you have no cash flow return on... unlike hauling in a load of wood to the mill.. it's just that nobody understands the input cost, they only see that check coming in
@kenraterink
@kenraterink 2 жыл бұрын
@@tira2145 every single business got government money in the last 2 year... as well as most individuals... everyone cashed that check. Business is about making money and you'd be a fool not to help your business... every tax paying citizen got a check and everyone cashed that as well. No difference.

Hey Bob I have been watching your operation and videos for 10 years. Love you all and your reality in the Logging Operation I live in Canada and I started at 17 and in Northern Canada minus 60 celcius muddy steep mountains etc. It a tough job and dangerous. The Logging in Canada is FINISHED and they have shut down New Sawmills Everywhere across Canada... Still a little Logging but I don't know how but. I'm 61 and took early retirement because of the Logging System in the toilet . Hey Bob I salute you as you and Justin have put your time in and you've made a proper business decision like me. Happy you have survived as long as you did and I know you have medical problems and I do too. In saying this Bob you have made a Ligit Decision from a business insight. Your Logging is much different than ours but I was fascinating with your company and your wife, Justin, and how fantastic you have treated your employees..... Your an Awesome Man Bob... 9 out of 10 of my friends are fascinated with your operation and a fantastic job of explaining everything about how you Log and doing your own repairs. Bob its extremely difficult to operate and work with family members but you succeeded big time. I'm not worried about you, Justin, your Wife or you Bob nor your awesome employees . You work extremely hard, no matter what, repairs to your equipment, and you're operators are awesome and great people. I wish all of you this best... May the good Lord be with you and your family and employees, moving forward. I will pray for each and every one of you. Take care and pass it on.. So sad. I used to follow you guys years ago on the history channel, nice piece of the wild west watched from over here in the UK. You guys are the foundation of pretty much every useful industry in the world, by useful industry I mean people who create things... farmers, loggers, builders, truckers.... not people who charge for nothing, no timber = no construction. Ok bankers don't need timber, neither do politicians, but who the heck are they going to rob when all the useful jobs have gone? Thank you for sharing this announcement. All across the country we are feeling the same pressure you are experiencing. As you point out, mills, timber companies and investors are pocketing record profits, while we as contractors are facing record increases in everything except our rates. If we do not stand together and force the rates to increase to an equitable level I am afraid that logging as we have known it will disappear. All the best to you and your family and employees. I can appreciate what a difficult decision this has been.

I loved your tv show. Still watch reruns. I just found you on U tube today. Will keep watching. Your in my prayers. My father was a cement finisher and big equipment driver. They were disrespected as well. I’m 72 years old and I know how people felt about being blue collar. May God bless you.

Been watching for years. We all gonna hang together. So sad to what it's all coming to. I'm a diesel mechanic and I've seen impacts it's having. Waiting on parts or even less and less trucks coming in for service. Me and my 2 year old son love watching the videos he loves talking about all the tractors. God bless

Hang on bobby . I'm a Canadian lumber hauler that hauls studs into Michigan out of Quebec Canada. There is literally no trucks left . The mills are fighting over us. We are charging 72 percent fuel surcharge or telling the mills to haul your loads with your computers .

Thank you for your channel and your voice. Until I owned my own businesses I didn’t pay too much attention to politics. Once you own your own business you realize how much the federal government stifles growth and ingenuity through unneeded regulation and pandering to special interest.

God bless y’all! I started in the woods when I was 12 years old, I’m now 43 and have left the woods. I tried it on my own back in 05’ then 08’ fuel prices hit I know your pain. It’s so sad what logging rates are compared to price increases today. Hold your head up high and know you’ve given it your all! Put it in the Lords hands and pray!

I said to myself several times while watching you guys in action ….That Goodson all-terrain sure has a lot of equipment and to keep going and a massive overhead of expenses… I am so glad I sold everything, Bobby , you and your wife and your crew will be ok , sell it all and you will be happier … good luck to you all

Every time a company is shut down the results are far reaching. As long as this administration keeps running as they have the country is going to the dogs. Hard working people, are footing the bill for foolish spending, and losing their lively hood at the same time. Bobby should hold his head high, as he has taken care of several other families for a long time. Bobby has given them a place and reason to work and grow with him and his family. Best of luck and God Bless everyone.
