This ep is a great start to the season. Not only did it introduce us to the main outside conflict of the season, which is fearmongering and pushing out the native population, such as trolls, but it also continued the story threads set up at the end of s1. U might have noticed that Hilda is a bit more closed off to her mom in this ep, and Johanna is a bit more worried. Both of these make sense, as in s1 Johanna trusted Hilda completely, she didn't need her to say what she was doing. But then in s1ep10-11 Hilda got lost in the wilderness. That naturally made Johanna very worried abt her safety. And in s1ep12-13 Johanna is more strict towards Hilda, she forbids her from bringing the nisse home and doesn't really trust her completely. I feel like before that Hilda just didn't tell her mom a lot of stuff, which is normal for a child. And Johanna was ok with that. But the end of s1 changed their dynamic, and now it feels like Hilda rather hides from her mom what's going on instead of just not telling her. I think Hilda rebels a little against Johanna by doing so, and I also think she fails to consider what her mom has been going through.

Losing Johanna's trust is sorta Hilda's own fault, she stopped trusting her mother with the little information she used to give her, and Johanna noticed, so of course she'd be worried. I'm not actually blaming Hilda, she's a child and it happens, she fails to see how much help she could gain from trusting an adult. I'm interested to see however how much more is Johanna gonna take before she brakes, she's a parent who, to her eyes, is loosing her child, and she's worried for all the lies and Hilda's safety

@@Bitchinarian I don't think Hilda kept that much from her mom before s1ep10-11. Or after for that matter. But the events of those episodes made Johanna really worried abt Hilda. So she became a bit more strict. And Hilda started hiding stuff from her as a response as seen here. I think the real issue here is that Hilda doesn't consider how that all "getting lost in the woods" affected Johanna. From her point of view, everything was fine. Such is the life of an adventurer. Which is actually a line Ahlberg says this ep. Really makes u think. And another issue is, she acts as if Johanna still limits her, when really it's not true. Hilda clearly feels smth, but refuses to agnowledge it in any way. It's immature, but she's a child. Still doesn't make it right though. So it's a personal issue of communication 1st and foremost.
