for anyone who wants to know its an actual disorder called Misophonia and its basically you feel certain emotions when you hear certain sounds so a lot of people with it feel INTENSE anger when they hear chewing but theres so many other things too i recommended looking into it!!!!!

It's miserable when you have siblings or friends that dont know how to chew quietly and double down when they realize the effect they have. The fact that it's so newly recognized and so little known resulted in people thinking that i was being a sensitive prick about it. When i tried to explain, they thought i was lying to make excuses.

I have misophonia as well and omg... yes... bubblegum, eating, people DIGGING INTO THE FUCKING PLATES WITH THEIR FORK LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO FIND EXTRA FOOD! It's so bad for me that I couldnt even eat with everybody at my own wedding. It sucks so bad to have to isolate for something as trivial for most people as eating.

Phobia isnt the right word. But it's more than just an "annoyance". It's an actual condition called misophonia. I have it and it really blows. It's an uncontrollable and yes... irrational response to some sounds. It does not have to be loud, or just be food related. Though chewing is one of the more common "triggers" for people. The response is emotional and it can differ from person to person. Some people it triggers a fight or flight response. Others it triggers anger, others full on rage. For some it throws them into a complete panic attack. I unfortunatly have multiple "triggers", food is one of them, and I get an uncontrolable (rage) response to food. Another I have for example is the scraping of metal forks on a plate.... that triggers both a panic and a fight or flight response from me and leads to rage if I can't get the noise to stop or remove myself from the situation. It's horrible, i hate it because i know that the other people are literally doing nothing wrong. It's all on me... but at the same time I can't control it. It sucks so so bad.
