Time. At 1.28 see cracked tile. Great, ill see if I can get product here in uk. Looks simple way to treat.

Yup. Roof was near end of life, that "tile" or as we would say here in the US "asphalt composite shingle" held up untill the end. It was the valley that eventually failed. 👍

Buy 5-10# of baking soda, where they have bulk bins, and scatter it on the roof. It is not toxic and it kills the moss just as well.

I have not tried that method, commercial stuff isn't terribly expensive $20 to $40 per can. I would love to see someone who owned a bunch of perallel roofs do a comparison between products. I have found after a few years of treatment with the commercial product it really doesn't need much. I also cleared some trees off which helps. Cheers.

You can also use double strength vinegar. Normal vinegar is +-5%. Double strength is 9 %. In Sydney dbl strength vinegar is about $1. . Once it drys the moss is dead. Even if it rains the next day the moss will die it takes about 2/3 weeks. Do you want to save money use vinegar. Powder does not get into the cracks and next year you will be paying to gave the moss removed again.

I haven't tried the vinigar method. I have also heard of powered bleach. The theory, as I understand it, on the commercial stuff is that zinc in the product interferes with photosynthesis and does not permit the moss or algae to generate food. It all depends on your local conditions! Trees, climate, wind direction, latitude temps, ect. I like liquid for its ability to be sprayed on which can help with steep roofs. Have a good one.

Thanks for this, unfortunately now a days it won’t cost you $200 - $300, it’s more like $700 - $1100. I know because I’ve cycled through a few roof cleaning contractors. They spend about 45 mins and are done. Thanks helping others.

Help! I used both the spray and the powder, now my roof is stained white like grapgiti ! ! I've tried washing it with my hose, but when it drys it comes white again. Will this ever dissolve and dissapeare?

where do you live ? is it a one story house or 2? is the roof steep?

@@LiveBoysMusic I live in Australia with a single storey you can walk on it it’s not that I had been told the contractor wouldn’t be walking on the roof Just spray the roof from The ground using ladders . Which will take him An hour

@@mariog7763 It is a terrible messy job when you spray as it gets all over the sprayer operator and makes the ladder wet. Depending on you water pressure and their equipment it could take some time. That being said it seems $500 to $800 is the minimum contractors seems to want to charge for small jobs. Australia certainly could be different. Best of luck.
