The Lyndene was owned by a retired birmingham bus driver back in the day,(he used to drive one of my regular bus routes,)he in turn sold it on,he actually was the one who turned all the little buildings into one big hotel...ive never stayed at the lyndene, but we've been holidaying in blackpool every september for over 30 yrs,in fact we got engaged at the top of blackpool tower.I absolutly loooove blackpool.💖👍🍹

As a coach driver, I dropped and picked up passengers and stayed in both hotels often. The Lyndene usually put the drivers into the St Chads, but the rooms in the Lyndene were nicer. I remember the Rolls Royce parked at the Lyndene. It's the staff I feel sorry for, they were always friendly and helpful and now they are out of a job.

Stayed there a few times with my wife, kids & mum & dad who were regulars. Food & entertainment were always spot on. My parents went from when Barry & family (the owners @ the time) were buying all the adjacent buildings as & when they came available. Guy was sound & would sometimes have a drink @ the bar with my dad late on. After many years, he gave my mum & dad a loaded card for the bar, for all the drinks my dad had bought for Barry. Staff were always so nice & accomodating. Just before my dad passed away, he rang to book, only to be told that it'd changed hands. Some of their happiest memories are in that hotel. Lets hope it can soon return to its former glory !!

I'm so sorry to hear about this and it's another stark reminder how hotels and businesses are being affected. I was concerned that St Chad's did not seem to look as if it was about to reopen after the first lockdown, yet The Lyndene was one of the first to open its doors and looked to be reestablishing itself with guests. It always looked reasonably busy all year round and did give the impression that it was the main one of the traditional hotels on the South Prom.

I live near there and that hotel was always packed! Buses loads every weekend. It's a great shame..let's hope some one will snap it soon before the holiday seasons starts.

Hi Stephen let's hope someone comes in and buys these hotels. Don't want them to end up like The Kimberley Hotel. Take care xx

Absolutely devastating news about both hotels, but I never thought the Lyndene would have been one just proves how hard this virus has hit the leisure industry, my thoughts are with the staff !! Great photo of the lightning well worthy of an award well done 👏 👍

I used to work on the blackpool circuit and sang in the lindens weekly. The owner at the time Barry Young was fantastic and very hands on. His family and staff made the Lyndene Hotel a great hotel for blackpool. Sad sad times for blackpool.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I have visited the Lyndene maybe a dozen times. Although not since it had new management. It was a family-run business I believe when I visited with friends from Manchester for Tinsel & Turkey. In November Wonderful staff food. It was always a full house. Many happy memories. Wishing all the staff the very best of luck for the future.
