This is the song that made me realize kendrick is different. As an english teacher, I loved teaching the book "things fall apart". This record has so much symbolism and references to that book that it blew my mind. The yam's reference is ingenious. Yams=wealth, power, and influence ❤ Big 3? Thanks for spending time on this one.

Things Fall Apart is one of my all time fave books. Chinua Achebe is a Legendary writer. He walked so Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie could run. One of the Best literally works ever. It was the reason I fell in love with Igbo people as well as African literature. I am African btw. I love Kendrick for his depth and understanding of his culture. Such a beautiful artists

I am amazed that you referenced Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart. Read that as part of my school curriculum in high school many many many years ago. I must admit your breath of knowledge of black history, necessitated by your love of hip hop, is impressive. I have watched other reaction videos about King Kunta and yours is the only one to grasp the relevance of the yams to African culture. A well deserved "thank you" for a job done well 👍🏿

Wow! You referenced both "Invisible Man" and "Things Fall Apart" in one reaction video. The English Major that lives inside me, who read, studied, and thoroughly enjoyed those literary works of art, is quite impressed. There is a vast catalog of writings that should be considered mainstream for their power and beauty, but they get classified as African (or African American, or something other than "American literature") literature, which sadly limits their reach and influence. I'm on my soapbox a little bit, but all great literature speaks to the human heart and mind.

African American English should be official English, and white English relegated to being slang. It’s time to destroy Anglo culture to the root. This includes white law and white Jesus.

Bro, you actually read Ralph Ellison? Huge respect. I read Invisible Man first when I was in middle school. I was definitely too young. Read it again in high school and then a third time as an adult. I took away life changing lessons each time. When I was young, it was a stunning expose on the modern English language. In high school, along with Whale Talk by Chris Crutcher, it exposed me to the deep rooted societal differences in America. As an adult it was a master class on understanding and accepting reality. What you do inside your reality is up to you. Me, I like it bright.

Aye, Knox Hill. There’s been this thing where Kendrick’s song “Poetic Justice feat. Drake” is a supposedly diss to Drake in itself. If you apply Drake’s authenticity and ghostwriting accusations to this, it all makes sense. “I can never right my wrongs unless I write them down for real P.S.” It might sound like a stretch, but after seeing what Kendrick is truly capable of in terms of disses, is it really?
