As always another great video. There is something I want you to take notice of that I will point out. I love how you go through the boxes without music as much youtubers do. I much rather listen to the rustling, the sticky bags, the chatter in the background. Makes me feel like I'm really there.

The cover of Excalibur #16 is a homage to Edgar Rice Burroughs' John Carter/Barsoom novels like "A Princess Of Mars". I vote for the return of Grottu the giant ant - Marvel could only benefit from such a creatively daring move. Speculating on movie characters is a mug's game, the only winners are the people who start the rumours in the first place and who have a stack of the comics the rumours are about. Avengers #57 never fails to impress me no matter how many times I read it and how often I look at that cover.

I don't know if you are aware of that Spider-Man special edition book, the trial of venom, but it was available only by making a donation to UNICEF. For $5, you mailed in a certificate and your donation and received that comic in return. It was advertised in a bunch of the comics at that time. I still have the two that I bought, and I'm surprised that they're not worth more. Plus, they did it again the following year with a Hulk vs. Venom book. Great pick up, and great pick up all around on everything else. You can never go wrong with any hologram cover from the 90s for a dollar!

When you put up WHERE MONSTERS DWELL #3, I noticed the star stamp just above the issue number 3. That is a proof of purchase stamp for books and mags sold on military posts back in the 70's. I brought back hundreds of books from Germany with that stamp back in 1973. A lot of the "star" books had the Mark Jewelers inserts in them. Just fyi.

I’m a busy guy so I can only juggle 1 or 2 comic titles. Lately I’ve been into getting trades and just binge reading them in one sitting. But otherwise, reading time isn’t what it used to be. And yea I owe everyone a tour of the room sometime, but it’s so messy right now!

What I seem to love is as you go through the boxes and you slow down a bit for the 70s and 80s comics I can see onesbi currently own or simply just remember. Even the ones I didn't buy, but should have. Heck I was a kid. Seeing you but comics I bought as they were released is also fun- wolverine 1, nebula... Omega men. I loved that Omega Men series. It would have made a great show too.

Really great show. I knew you were going to pick out that man thing cover cuz I would have. I used to come out of the comic book store when I was in my 40's with a big stack like that just about every other Wednesday. First I'd get my pulls then I would hit the dollar bins. I can't tell you how many books that you showed that I passed up back in the day. But that's the fun part about collecting sometimes you strike gold and sometimes you miss the vein just like Dracula.

@A100-ND7 ай бұрын
@@lunchmoneycomics You seem to be insulted by this person's comment. But look again at the Excalibur cover, apparently you didn't notice the "Warlord of Mars" logo at left, taken from Marvel's John Carter series from the '70s -- a dead giveaway as to what was being homaged. So that's probably related to his "impression." Aren't you familiar with Marvel's John Carter title?
@lunchmoneycomics7 ай бұрын
@@A100-ND yeah I figured it out. I wasn’t insulted, I genuinely wanted to know what I missed. A lot of what I say is off the cuff in the moment so I miss some stuff, but it’s a very strange leap in logic to assume an omission equals ignorance.

However, I was happy to pick it back up. Once, I started collecting the full Maximun Carnage storyline again around 1997. Funny thing it took me until last year to finally finish the run!! Hopefully, you get to finish your run quite a bit quicker lol. Plus all the other great book you were able to obtain. Really wish zi had a shop like that around me.
