Part 1 of the tour of my entire rare terrarium plant collection. First couple minutes have important notes you should know, but tour begins at 1:45 if you want to skip them.
- I won't go over care since most of that is in my "How to Grow Terrarium Plants" playlist as well as other videos on my channel
- Many of my plants are not identified, so unfortunately I cannot tell you the name of every single one.
- Many of my bins have a lot of small plants all mixed together so I won't be talking about every single plant
- I do not sell plants, so I won't be replying to any inquiries about that
- Most of my plant sources are private contacts, friends, etc which I can't freely share, so I won't be replying to requests asking where I got them. That said, I have some helpful info on my FAQ page that will get you going in the right direction if you wish to begin collecting the types of plants I show on my channel. www.anotherwor...
★ NOTE ★
Being a creator is many things, including a journey of trying to constantly improve. During editing I realized how often I say the words "nice" and "beautiful" and a few other things. I apologize if it gets annoying. I am aware of that issue, and some other things I could potentially improve on. I'll give it a shot but it might take a while to get over some of my bad habits and patterns.
★ YOUR THOUGHTS ★
I'm open to hearing constructive feedback about my videos, and especially would like to know your thoughts on part 1 of the plant collection tour. If I can get some feedback, it will help me see if there are things I can adjust before I make part 2. Thanks as always for your support.

Mold. How to deal with it depends on what type of mold and what kind of plants are in with it. Generally, manually remove as much mold as possible, reduce watering, and increase air flow. Also, add springtails and isopods so they clean up the decaying matter.

Wow great job man, thanks for bringing us this! You've inspired me over the last few months to have my own grow bins. Just finished converting my closet to hold 16 bins! Thanks again for sharing!

Anyone who watches this and might be asking “where did you get your plants”-but you can’t necessarily divulge your contacts-should just… do a little online researching! 😆 Infinite amount of vendors and resources, and even local and nearby sellers on Etsy are highlighted on the app… and of course just trying various nurseries and seeing what’s available. Might be surprised! But in general, I don’t think people should even have to bother asking… the internet is there for you to “ask”. Lol.

Great video! Can’t wait for more! I don’t really have any rare plants now. I’d say the rarest ones I have now are maybe microgramma heterophylla or my sea turtle orchid. I’m so glad I transferred all my plants to bin setups. They’re doing so much better! Always very satisfying to see all the new growth after a few days. I just went to a nursery that sells some tropical plants and ferns and bought a mother fern along with a sellaginella kraussiana and pellionia repens. Also is it helpful to add some small logs in these setups to let moss and small ferns to grow on them?

Also if it’s not too much to ask, I bought a plant at a reptile show many months ago but it had no ID. Do you think you could help me indenting it?
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 4 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I'm glad you are finding bin setups helpful. It might be too late but I'd recommend quarantining your new plants (keep them in a separate bin from your other plants). You could add wood to the bins if you want to. There is nothing wrong with experimenting. It's all about having fun. If you grow moss and plants on wood in a bin, you could then transfer it into a terrarium at some point.

Thanks. This is only like 1/10 of my collection. Because there is so much, I don't always take the best care of everything and sometimes I forget about something and then it dries out. It doesn't happen a lot, but it can. This is what happens to anyone who is hoarding too many plants. Yes, your interests will change a lot through your life.

@@AnotherWorldTerraria Wow! I only have about 3 bins. The most unique plant I have is a crepidomanes I collected in Hawaii. I had it inspected at the airport, and it was good to go! It's really hard to sustain a large collection of anything!

In one of the bins around 10:13 into the video you had some kind of fibrous pad or plaque on the side of the bin, and some plants were growing on that. What is this material please?
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 3 жыл бұрын
It's called EpiWeb. It's an artificial substrate made out of plastic fibers. Great for epiphytic species as long as you can keep the moisture and humidity up.

Selaginellas can come back to life after being dormant, and basically dead, for months and months, right? I know some grow in deserts.
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria Жыл бұрын
Only some of the xeric species which are adapted to that, like S. lepidophylla. Under the right conditions they can be desiccated for a couple of years and then come back when they get water. Any species which are not adapted, such as most tropical species which need humidity, are incapable of surviving desiccation.

How do you grow the cryptocarnie parva 'mini' outside of water?? it's an aquarium plant and I havent found anything about growing it on land, I want to put this in a terrarium
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 2 жыл бұрын
Many aquarium plants are amphibious plants, not true aquatics. Those ones can be grown in what is called an "emersed" state, which means they coming out of or above the water (as opposed to a "submersed" state, which is completely underwater). Amphibious plants which can be grown emersed will generally do best in wet and very humid conditions. I keep the Crypt parva mini in a sealed deli container. Thanks for watching

@@AnotherWorldTerraria Thanks so much for the reply! i'm gonna try growing it in a terrarium with 90+% humidity, do you think it could survive in sphagnum moss or ABG mix assuming it never dries out?
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 2 жыл бұрын
I am not sure on either of those growing mediums. I have only tried parva in Fluval Stratum. I would recommend experimenting with multiple substrates. Good luck!

Is it possible to grow orchids underwater??
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 4 жыл бұрын
No, orchids can't be grown underwater, but there are some rheophytic species which can take short periods of submersion or being splashed with water.

Sometimes when I'm having trouble identifying a plant, I break off a leaf and smell it. Some plants have a unique odor that is only released when it's damaged some way. :)
