What month was this taken? I always remember ansetts A320s and some 737s flying over my home as late as 2002 after it's demise

In the early eighties, TAA upgraded its DC-9s to "Super 30" interiors, just as Ansett was introducing 737-200s. Ansett's advertising at the time crowed, "Ansett - New 737s... Not Old DC-9s". Isn't it ironic, therefore, that Ansett was the last operator of 727s in Australia? (None of TAA/Australian Airlines' 727s made it into QANTAS ownership to my knowledge).

that's right.by the time the australian/qantas took place they sold off the 727's.replaced by a mix of 737's and A300's and 767's for the most part on many sectors.the dc9 was one of the most unloved aircraft of Ansett.looking at the TAA DC9's with their five across seating in the rear is a joke even virgin australia on the soon to be phased out embraer 190's do four across in economy.

Luckily the points I had with global rewards when Ansett went under was small but what sucked was I had to many years later start over via Thai Royal Orchid Plus to get back what was lost of which they have been used to help a hospital in Bangkok.the rest of you might not have been so lucky.

A real shame to a Australian icon, this what happens when Jews get their hands national utilities, thanks to Rupert Murdoch and Peter Abes. I didn't realise Ansett was a victim of an agressive stockmarket takeover during the early 70's, Reg Ansett was then moved aside as another board director. From then on, Ansett was starting to lose it's Australian spirt...... Ansett was also asset stripped way before Air New Zealand got their hands on it, they were basically left with the carcass.

Rupert Murdoch also had the nerve to sell his share of ansett to air new zealand in 1996.they screwed things up badly and many of us as a result took years to get over what happened to nz and never stepped foot on one of their planes again.

And just a few short years later the Airline was gone. A crime where no persons ever faced a court. And now we have the government spending millions on a car industry that is set to die a slow and painful death at the expense of the taxpayer.
