Marcin and Tomasz - two people that would be incredible to spend an hour talking ideas with. No idea how this video hasn't got millions of views as of yet. Witcher, Witcher 2, Witcher 3, Blood & Wine, Hearts of Stone, Cyberpunk, Phantom Liberty....Some of the best written stories I've ever seen across films, games and books. The emotion that players felt from the stories and characters is rare to find. Thank you and your team for everything you've created and I cannot wait for a Cyberpunk sequel, especially with Unreal Engine to allow more technical flexibility. I'd love to know from you guys - What choices did you make in your Cyberpunk runs? For me, I've explored all endings but Panam>King of Cups>The Star ending always felt the best. King of Wands>The Sun for a glory ending. Second - how did you get into Story writing at such a high level in the gaming industry? I've always been interested in this so would love to hear your journeys. Looking forward to more of these!

Yes, these small movements that Marcin Blacha talks about 6:03 were often used in Cyberpunk 2077. It was a masterpiece of direction that we can see. Example: When we are talking to Takemura about Ghosts and the Past at the top of the construction site, there is a moment when Johnny and the cat sitting on the wall jump down, and V at the same moment says: "The bakaneko got sick of us, looks like." This is a great scene because "bakaneko" in this case refers to both Johnny and Cat. This scene is a masterpiece. And there are many more such scenes and details.

This sets it apart for sure and is EXACTLY why I will defend their decision to remove third person. They clearly were pushing immersion as far as possible.

So this are the guys that made me fallen in love with cdpr (from witcher 1 you had amazing stories), story is greatest pillar of the game imo. I just hope and pray to gods that ESG corporate imperium doesn't destroy that.

28:10 - Character complexity was a great question, seems to boil down to illuminating new parts of the character that pull you back and forth in terms of your opinion of them as these quests progress. I think Joshua was a great example, but I wonder if this is common with a sidekick or even if you can experiment with the range. Is it a good practice to have someone completely lovable then you find out something about them and they are dead to you? Feels like a sidekick should be a mirror or the other side of the protagonist that either guides or helps the prot come to a realization. Jackie's complexity is shown with the Ofrenda but the range is less since he's always relatively likeable and even more so knowing what he went through as a kid as a lot of characters in 2077 are a victim of circumstance. Does less of a range add more nuiance? Is having someone that is completely lovable and then one thing changes your opinion on them substantially make things too black and white or make it unfulfilling? Would love to hear more about that in the future. Excellent discussion! P.S - Does Sebastian have a Batou tattoo? thats sick af lol

Guys the Witcher for me will remain massive and captivating and not even close to other open world games like red dead redemption. For me I think The Witcher remain one of the best games 😊

55:05 part of the reason I wanna learn more about psychology :D understanding the processes that actually drive people also 55:27 is SUCH a valuable insight; to create a spy character you HAVE to have a deep understanding of what that actually is and how it changes/affects people, how real recruitment processes go, cabin fever, second guessings etc, and finally creating a character who has to live through what you know, and what it does to people 56:05 so glad he talked about tinker tailor soldier spy :D

I'm so glad you talked about Damien. Blood and Wine came out at a hard transitional period in my life and it became my source of comfort. I really fixated on Damien (and Milton and Palmerin), had a huge crush on him actually. But the way he talks to her, that one scene where he forgets himself and gives her that open mouthed look, the way he is always at her side and command, how they talk to each other on the balcony, and then Dandelion's remark in his character entry. The expressions he makes, the emotion on his face during Night of Long Fangs. The way he earnestly smiles when Annarietta and Syanna embrace that you can only see when you enter free camera. It is all there. I always knew that he loved her, and it's so tragic, that he pines for her but knows he cannot act on it or even hint it. I must have played that expansion over ten times, and I could never bring myself to get the ending where Annarietta dies, because I couldn't do that to Damien. Seeing him mourn and then reading his character entry broke my heart. I even made a mod where I swapped Dandelion to Damien so that Damien could embrace her as she mourns over Syanna's coffin. Damien is important to me, he's not a character to me, he's like a real person. The only thing I did not like about him or his writing was how quickly he turns on Geralt and disregards all logic and their previous blossoming friendship in the prison ending.

Late answer but I still want to tell you that I totally feel with you. Damien and Anna Henrietta are very dear to me aswell and I love how the Devs brought those characters to life for us. Watching the ending were Anarietta dies broke my heart, too - and on the other end I love the detail that when Damien confronts Geralt about Syanna's fate he for once is not talking about 'her Grace' but refers to "Anna Henrietta" not being the one to judge Geralt, but a propper court will. This just kind of felt as if behind the scenes he was there, caring for her more like the closest person she has at her palace, not just a captain and bodyguard.

Great talk! Will you make episodes with technical people? I am wondering what challenges programmers have faced, which unique systems they made, and how CDPR games differs from others, what were the challenges of creating open worlds with lots of complexity in quests, how did you achieve such high animation quality in 2015 in terms of programming? Also, I'd love to know the reason behind Roach's famous bugs xD

Amazing first episode and I'm looking forward to more. Guests from outside the studio could be cool. E.g. the community podcast crew (Madqueen, Triple S League, Last Known Meal, and The Neon Arcade). Some of them are game devs themselves.

Oh, and one more thing. Have you considered making some of these LIVE, and/or taking in some "outside guests"? You know, like devs from other companies or bespectacled, struggling artists/youtube creators working in the IT sector from Slovakia, who may provide the "customer's POV". You know, no one specific.

Please make a massive deep Open World and story again. That’s what The Witcher 3 did best and it was the foundation of a truly unforgettable game and I’ll never forget that world ever. Exploration and mystery in it while also not being simple at all and finding new mysteries every few hours traveling around was so well crafted. Get the same Lead Open world developer to work for it. Please 😭🙏🏻
