When we came back to the states it was such a culture shock to me to go to the gas station 😂 I tried filling up my car and could not figure out why the gas wasn’t pumping. Finally I realized you have to pay first. Totally agree on the fact that it’s more of a hustle here. I miss things being closed on Sundays and more focused on family

Yes! Definitely a culture shock lol Thats funny about the gas station! In the UAE, attendants always pumped our gas, so we had to get back used to how things are here. And same for me as it was so nice living somewhere that placed value on family!

Loved listening to this, especially your reflections on moving back from overseas. Balancing our overseas lifestyle with the desire to allow real-life connections and relationships with family members in the US--it's not easy.

A lot of people say Canada and US are very fast paced. In Brazil it's more about family and laid back although people work such long hours. It's just so different over seas!

And now I know what they mean because there’s a big difference there. Side note: every time I think of Brazil now, I think about delicious food because one of our first neighbors in the UAE were Brazilian. They invited us to a cookout and omgosh that was some of the best grilled food I’ve ever had!

I definitely don’t balance everything perfectly either!!! Moving back to our home country is awesome for us but it was a culture shock!!! I don’t miss the U.K. tho!!! I don’t miss the dull hustle culture!!! Our culture is more outdoor culture!!! The hustle culture isn’t that nice!!! We moved to be close to family and great grandparents!!! We love travelling in the states and to us it’s exciting but I know Australia is exciting to a lot of people!!! We where still connected to our home country while we where in the U.K!!! We never used a travel stroller but traveled a lot!!! I wish I would have known of them!!! I’m a 2nd generation traveler as my biological parents traveled with work and we could go if we homeschooled!!!

Australia is on our list of places to visit one day! That’s so awesome that you’re a second generation traveler! I kind of hope our kids get the travel bug when they get older lol not that I consider us travelers per se but we do what we can and enjoy it when we do. You are so right about the culture shock when returning to home country though! Same for us.
