Is it weird or embarrassing to have to much clutter on your bars or your bike ie bags,lights, speedo, bells and whistles ?😂

@@Craig00005 i do got a bell since im commuting on my bike. Lights are very important. Bags are just for personal preference. Sometimes I use a saddlebag, sometimes i just throw the things in my backpack. I usually always carry a bag on my back. Do as you like and feel comfortable.

I name my bikes. I do it because when I name my bike, it stops being a thing and becomes something that I love and take care of and they do develop personalities over time. I also name my cars as well for the same reasons.

After 20 years of riding mtbs, i can confidently say that there are no embarrassing questions. You wanna level up your riding skills? Ask people on the trail, observe them, see if they got any tipps for you. Clothing? Just wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Helmets? Do as you like. Googles? I DONT RIDE WITHOUT THEM. PERIOD. i prefer sunshades tho. Repairs can get expensive really fast so I advise you to see if you can fix it yourself. Tires are an absolute rip off. Dont spend 100 bucks on 1 tire. Get schwalbe blackjack for 30 each and you have an extremely reliable tire. And tbh even that is still expensive. You can bike on an extreme budget. My mtb was free. I put like 30 hours of work into it and it drives like a fever dream. Recycle parts! Patch your inner tubes! Lubricate what ever needs to be Lubricated. Finally, as long as you are out there having fun, nothing else matters. Cheers my fellow mtb mates!

@@rickmortyson4861 i agree up to a point mate but i learned at a young age that recycled parts are not always safe to use after so many crashes snd broken bones, so i would rather go for quality but budget parts and whatever you are comfortable with.

My Specialized Stumpjumper is called Thumper. We have a great time on the trails and it feels like a shared adventure with something with "personality" rather than just riding a bike.

Its not. A lot of people are doing it. Just look at the north American community or take a look at whistler. I dont know why Europeans seem to care so much about "style" i ride for my mental health and for the joy of it. I don't give a fuck how i look to someone. But i do check out every bike i come across 😂

I named my bike Theseus, because at this point, the frame is the only original part left from the bike I bought.

I got a hardtail I fondly named Butch. Between the abuse I put it through, and the numerous brodge fixes, upgrades, and other borderline “illegal” changes I’ve made, Butch has earned that name.

I named my bike "Pack Mule" currently because I have a Mongoose Fatbike with almost 3 frame bags, a bottle cage that can hold a full size Gatorade, and a rear rack that can support 130 lbs [somehow]. Needs a better name, but it was humorous because I made it strictly for commuting.

@@corinalymburner1121 A spoke guard. It's a clear circular piece of plastic that sits between your cassette and the spokes of your wheel. Prevents damage to the spokes if the chain slips off the largest gear and gets stuck in the spokes behind it. But it also rattles, slides, and bangs around until it eventually breaks. I keep mine on for a day of riding until I am sure my derailleur limit screw and indexing are set correctly, then I remove it.

We name all our bike bar the race bikes (not sure why those don't get names) I have a HT called Steven and a CX called Kermit because it's horrifically green. Sadly my husband let my kids name his short travel... It's called BBB or the big black beast, this has caused so much confusion for others when dad's out on the big black beast... 😮

I don’t agree with the glasses with a full face! If it’s boiling hot and I’m riding miles I’m not going to be wearing goggles!🤷🏼‍♂️🥵 I don’t wear half shells but is wearing goggles with a half shell bad? I only wear goggles if I’m just lapping a short run or if I’m at a bike park with an uplift!

Absolutely fine to name your bikes. Over recent years, I’ve had bikes called Pandora, Lagertha, Evangeline, Faith and I’m currently riding a Transition Patrol named Angeni.

Nothing wrong with naming your bikes! My Giant Trance X- “Cadillac” Smoothest riding bike i’ve ever owned. Like an old Cadillac My Giant Contend AR- “Ron Burgundy” Because of the color, it’s Garnet really. Also because it’s a “Classy” Road bike. My Ibis DV9 😍- “Purple Rain” because of its dark purple color

Of course I name my bikes 😃 Mary is my road bike, El Toro my gravel bike, Alaïa my mountain bike. Each of the names have a story or connection to them :)

Back in the day I used to wear one shorts over my padded riding shorts this was in the 90’s. Yes it’s ok to name your bikes I start with the first letter of the bike manufacturer. So my Cannondale is named Chloe, or Cindy. But my Proflex is named pig. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there.

I've never heard of anyone naming their bikes, as in bicycle bikes or MTB. But I also ride motorcycles and lots of people have names for their rides. It gets a bit weird on forums where some people speak of their bike by name as if we all know who they are talking about - then we have to clarify and find it's not a who it's a what.

My actual question that's a bit embarrassing is: I've got a new work stand and I wonder how to work on my mountain bike: if I should clamp my bike on the extended part of the dropper or if I pull the outer part of the dropper out of the frame enough to clamp there but needing to pull the internal cable out and after the maintenance back inside for that? A carbon frame (especially since my Santa Cruz Megatower is not round) isn't great to clamp neither as far as I know, right?

Serious question #Ask EMBN Tech. It appears that both DJI and the ZF motors were using ABS style sensors. Will the industry adopt this as a standard? On my gen 2 Levo the single magnet is mounted on the brake bolts, and on my Cube with a Bosch system it has a magnet attached to a spoke which looks quite amateur and interferes with my spoke tension gage.

I wear baggy shorts with a Lycra short under them because they have the padding and keep the leg muscles tight. The baggy short provides protection from scrapes in the unlikely event of a fall. And by the way my MTBA does not have a name. That’s too weird for me.

It's a good job mountain biker don't care if someone looks like a idiot on a bike. I'm about to do the for the second time in just over 2 weeks. We to the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre. Last weekend. Found myself on the "skills" area. Saw the "jump" line and the "drop off" line. As I can't jump that far. I did the drop off line. Still rubbish at it and I completed it "slowly". Begining of next month I'm going to BikePark Wales for the first time. At least no one will care I can't do the jumps on Pinkeye.

yes, i got one that is on my mind for years! what is a "bike"? now, hear me out... people talk about "upgrading" your bike, and i get it, we all do it, but when does it stops being the same bike? dude upgraded drivetrain, wheels, suspention, stem, bars, brakes... then, a bike is a frame? help me out guys

I think that the name goes with the frame because other parts and components can be changed and it is still essentially the same bike, just differently capable with higher or lower spec components.

4:37 ABSULUTELY!!! I can't tell you how many riders I know practice manuals and wheelies endlessly but can't bring their bike to a stop to handle obstacles. Learning how to do at least a momentary track stand is very, very important.

when i get done with mountain biking before school and i just go directly to school with my full face people always ask me why i have a helmet on if im biking ( i live in the netherlands and its not very common to see a b person biking with a helmet on). I say cause im a mountain biker and they say well you dont need a helmet for that right. How can i stop getting stared at and getting these questions?

Single Dingle (Avanti Kiss singlespeed) Scar Tissue (recovered and rebuilt stolen Norco Fluid HT) Artful Dodger (SE Draft...so Draft Doger, became Artful) Pinky (Mongoose Rogue BMX custom paint, bright pink) Maurice (less imagination, it's a Mongoose Maurice) Stippy (Giant STP) And Scotty.....my first "real" mountain bike. A 2001 Scott Expert Racing. But yeah, na, naming bikes is for chumps! Hahahahahahaha
