Pertaining to the adjustable mask bit, I tie slipknots into my ordinary medical masks! Makes it so you can make the ear holes smaller or bigger whenever you want since my medical masks don't come adjustable, and you can untie the knot whenever. I searched "slip knot" and the first tutorial that came up looked good so there's that if you don't know how to tie one. They're pretty easy to pick up. hope this helps someone :)

the advice on how to live an anarchist lifestyle is very good! but, a lot of the advice feels a bit either urban centric or US centric. A lot of the places to find fellow anarchist dont exist around everyone, especially in remote/rural areas or small cities. the general advice is still good, however I would expand on this to say that for some it is better to start by forming community online (even though that has a lot of problems/potential problems), or expose existing friends to anarchist ideas and build community that way. Again not trying to say that what is said in the video is bad, more to add the perspective of "what if the closest of those groups are 9 hours away?" another important element of this is if you are queer in a very remote/rural area you should prioritize your own safety first. if you know that people in your area are open and accepting then go for it no problem, however if you live in a rural area with a lot of phobes you need to make sure that you are safe before you try to organize people around you.

It makes me cringe, thinking of Bookchins derisive term "lifestyle anarchism". It really seems like most Anarchists are more intrested in performative cultural signifiers of Anarchism than a social political principle of anarchism. I hate to pick on Ashton, but he kind of gave the perfect example. They said, "Join a Food Not Bombs group." Assuming that we would all just know what that is, because that is what Anarchists do. It doesn't even occur to them that anyone would have an interest in serving food to the public in any other capacity, or even advocate for it in general. And I've worked with Keith, I don't think that kind of promotion is what he would consider most important.

@@JebeckyGranjola I feel like too many American white queers have this issue, I feel like the only way to make a good impact with this subject is making effort to venture out and collaborate with people who have a different perspective than you. I'm latino and anything I would write will never have black perspective since I'm not black and having that makes a completely different impact because we struggle with completely different issues.

totally fair and i super appreciate all these points from both the original comment & you all's replies ! i've only ever lived in/near cities so that's the inevitably privileged perspective i come from, obviously there is rly valuable work to be done in other environments as well and i rly appreciate everything you all brought up. i like bringing up more widespread things like FNB and prison letter-writing etc bc i think it helps budding anarchists to know there /are/ other people out there, and often for those who do live near a group like that, it is an accessible place to start & meet likeminded ppl. i feel like i can't give all the advice i would like to on a public platform just for safety reasons, but i can give people a place to start. i hope that makes sense. regardless, i do genuinely value these critiques. thank you all :)

im also autistic and i never stopped wearing masks, although i dont really know how to bring it up with others that it would be good if they wore masks in closed public rooms as well, I kind of get scared of being pushy or something and only driving them further away from considering it. Either way i loved the video, i recently got really into the magnus archives and i didnt really wanna go to bed right after listening to a scary story so it was a pleasant surprise to see this video in my recommendations. also i would be interested in the bookshelf tour! i think ill go to sleep now. byeee!

Loved the video. I'm working on a zine at the moment. It's basically ideas for how I would run a country. I'm planning on posting a copy to Parliament in the UK to give them a few ideas (High five for autistic audacity). Thanks for the captions again. It shouldn't be a luxury, but it is. I'd love to see a tour of your bookshelf. Also, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for repelling racists and homophobes when my incredibly boring fashion sense and general vibes seem to just attract them.

Btw I love your outfit, so many cool necklaces and I absolutely love the spikey hairband, and the t-shirt is cool too Edit: I just want to add that every time I watch your videos I want to look more goth with some punky vibes and want to do more diy clothes stuff and that’s pretty awesome. I also end up wanting body mods especially piercings even more, and I want to do queer anarchist art in general. It makes me very happy to see a fellow genderqueer anarchist goth Edit 2: yesss I would love a bookshelf tour kind of video Edit 3: I just want to add that it’s pretty sad how anarchist spaces of all things have mostly abandoned masking when everyone else did, I feel like I expected anarchists to be better and I kind of feel bitter and sad and alone about it. It just feels like I can’t trust these people to stay true to the beliefs they say they have any more, if wearing a mask inside to not be super ableist and make spaces accessible and not spread a dangerous disease and not violate the bodily autonomy of everyone who wants to not breathe air that has such a high risk of being infectious (while also not completely withdrawing from all social interaction), then are they really to be trusted to not throw others under the bus whenever it’s comfortable for them? They speak of fighting hierarchies as they choose to reinforce those hierarchies. The most absurd example of this I’ve seen is people talking proudly about having during the early pandemic years occupied the place the covid denialists usually gathered to spread their fashy bullshit by putting a table there where they handed out free masks and information about Covid… while I, the newcomer, was the only person in the room wearing a mask. Anyways, on a more positive note, I’ve been thinking about getting some black ffp2 masks and making them look more awesome, perhaps getting a silver marker and drawing and writing stuff on them or sth. I feel like that would be a very cool thing to do. (Pronoun masks? Queer anarchist symbols and slogans? Just some random stuff I think looks good?)

not sure how having to do safety maths on whether to come out/correct someone or not and constantly recloseting yourself is "not that important" when the suicide rate on trans people is 40%. not being seen for who we are is so often a death sentence. but for some reason lots of people still think it's only about medical stuff and medical stuff is always more important or smth.

New to your community so this may be totally out of field but.. What are your thoughts on DMT and psychedelics? I feel like DMT can get a bad rep from Joe rogan etc but I absolutely refuse to accept the red pill culture… psychedelics are radically anarchist by their very nature, I’d love to see some conversations about that in left spaces and really enjoy your discussions

Kinda forgot about the covid thing. I've stopped wearing masks and thought even though it still technically exists at the point where we wear fine. Maybe I'll have to look into the stats. Idk how I'd get into wearing a mask because I'm in trade school and work in trades like hvac and construction, so I'm souranded by conservatives. Even at home, my family evangelical Christians.

As for the first one I cannot say, as for the other one, I am a trans guy who defines myself as both transgender and transexual. Being transexual is modifying your body to alter your sex characteristics :) many transgender pople are also transexual or aspire to be it. Not all transgender pople like the term transexual but I personally feel okay with it
