Just a note on home fertility kits, I think most people gravitate to them because there is no access to pre-conception care unless one has a fertility influencing diagnosis, prior to TTC. It seems the moment one decides to TTC, they are highly discouraged from contacting a doctor unless there is an unrelated problem. At the very least, companies like Modern Fertility offer an affordable way to get a baseline understanding of one's fertility outlook that is not available to get from a doctor prior to the age allotted timeframe for the good ol college try. Just a perspective of what it might mean to be "affordable"; it may be more absolute than comparative.

1000% agree regarding Modern Fertility! I did this test alongside going to my regular OB and ended up getting identical bloodwork done with them, and my OB was significantly cheaper even before insurance. The two results were conflicting so I ended up just basically scrapping the MF results and going straight get the fertility care that I needed based on my doctors recommendation. ✌️

Can you please talk about low progesterone, and if supplementation without fertility treatments is current practice? PCOS patient, with low progesterone and my OB will not put me on supplementation without being on fertility treatments.

Do different blood labs test for things differently? I got an AMH and my lab provided a reference range for values in my age group, with the highest being 8.75, but I've heard people say their AMH value is 15+. Curious if this is due to the specific testing procedure, or if a reference range isn't the absolute min/max.

I definitely feel like fertility care should be covered! A lot of people who are against it say things like "why should I (if universal healthcare) or insurance pay for you to get pregnant?"... but it definitely sucks to have to pay over $10 000 (based on my last calculation of how much I've paid so far) just for a chance to get pregnant because my body doesn't work typically... when lots of other people can get pregnant for free. Plus, infertility/fertility issues affect far more people than these lucky people realize!

I’m in Canada so everything is covered including 1 IVF depending on the province you live in. Mine is one of the provinces that cover 1 free IVF I just need to pay for the medication. For IUI everything is covered just not the sperm wash

@@scottishgirl1100 I am also in Canada, and I think we may be in the same province because my province also covers unlimited IUIs and 1 IVF cycle with two attempts at egg retrieval. However, we have to pay for medications (and those IVF ones and the no-substitution meds are $$$), sperm wash/processing, AMH test (I've had two) and donor materials... so it definitely adds up.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge :) wish I could be one of your patients. With that said, are there any infertility doctors you recommend in the NYC area? Also: Can a woman be born with a tube blocked?/ Or what could be a probable cause of a distal end tube blockage if patient has no diagnosis of PCOS or endo., and has never had abdominal surgery ?

Is an AMH of 1.09 low for a 24 year old? FSH was 7.73 & have conceived naturally before. I was originally doing IVF for PGT testing, but now I’m afraid I won’t even be a candidate for it with those numbers? Are they okay?

Have your pregnancies been vegan? I had a vegan twin pregnancy with fantastic results, my MFM was on board and the hospital nutritionist said my diet was one of the best she has ever seen. I see a lot of negativity towards vegan pregnancies.
