@@ya-like-jazz congrats! i'm not at the main campus, I got into the Qatar campus (yes we have a campus here and its the same diplomas/programs as the main campus, we only have biological sciences, comp. bio, comp sci, information systems, and business. it's part of a larger system we have here with universities like Cornell, texas a and m, and a few more i can't remember. I AM taking some courses online in Pittsburgh and all i can say is: spend your class time well. Do the problems in class, take notes, keep your camera on to make sure that you are focused (also if you're the only one with your camera on, your professor will tailor how well the rest of the class understands things based on your reactions). Working in class and like 5 minutes after to wrap up any notes and ask any questions will save you HOURS down the line. If you're confused or lost ask for help ASAP. It's REALLY fast paced and they expect a high level quality of work. try to reach out to students, in highschool you know the people there pretty well since its small, but cmu is big, reach out and establish yourself as someone who works hard and is willing to help here and there (don't give all your time and attention/freebies all the time) so that people will take you seriously/look to you. That's how you build authority and respect lol, and it can help you out when you're confused about a topic as you can reach out to your classmates for help. Online school sucks but with the rate of vaccination going on, I'm sure spring semester will be back to normal. good luck, stay safe, and don't be afraid to reach out for help when needed. don't forget to do your homework!

i think a lot of american schools use it too, but it’s more rare for our colleges. for instance, my current school uses the quarter system :)

Massachusetts also has a really good transfer program! and our state schools are really good! maybe not UC good, but really solid schools.

My advice: 1. Always stay true to yourself and listen to your gut. 2. Don’t give in to peer pressure. 3. Don’t change yourself or lose yourself or your friends or anything else just for the attention of some boy/girl. 4. Study hard but also know grades aren’t everything and to give yourself some grace. 5. It goes by quickly so make sure to do as much fun activities as you can. It’s better to regret the things you have done than the things you haven’t. 6. Don’t take certain classes and extracurriculars just because you think they’ll appeal to colleges. Do what you’re actually passionate in. 7. Try new things. It’ll help you discover yourself. 8. Don’t feel like you have to get into a relationship. There’s nothing wrong with you if you don’t and high school relationships are more for fun (and also for status) than for actually meeting someone you could spend the rest of your life with, in most cases. 9. Maintain a good relationship with your parent(s)/caregivers. You should be able to trust them and they should be able to trust you.

my best pieces of advice are 1. don't be intimidated by upperclassmen, they aren't scary and they'll be so so helpful when you want to choose extracurriculars or know more about high school! 2. try new things that spark your interest! some of my best experiences have been because i went outside of my comfort zone to do the things i liked! 3. don't try to tailor your high school experiences to other people's advice, even if it's your parents or friends! if a class or activity doesn't interest you, you're probably better off not taking them 4. improve on or find new study techniques: high school is the best time to find new study methods and see how well they work for you; if something doesn't work for you, then try something else 5. build your relationship with your teachers/counselor: they'll come in a lot of handy when you're applying to college, and not only that, they'll appreciate a student taking the initiative to engage in their education :) 6. find a friend group that will support you and helps you grow! i cannot emphasize how important this is, and you might just make some friendships that'll last for years after you graduate

@@priscillaye5049 thank you for the advice I really need it coming into high school for me is not easy especially knowing that we change through out these years.

1. if you are interested in an extracurricular, join it. of course you need a balance but the more activities you join, the quicker you find out what you’re interested and not. 2. know the friendships you enter high school in probably won’t last. this obviously depends, but be aware things will most likely change. 3. try and do all of the corny high school things. go to prom/hoco, go to football games with your friends. you’ll be able to think back on those happy memories. 4. get out of your comfort zone. as the quiet kid in the back of the class, i’m taking theatre this semester, and it’s really gotten me out of my comfort zone, and i’ve really grown to love it. if a class/activity scares you, DO IT. 5. dont force yourself to get into a relationship. now is the best time to learn about yourself and get your shit together before college/uni. if you end up in one, that’s great! but don’t feel like you have to. 6. make connections with the teachers/staff. this can come in handy further down the road as you apply to college/uni/internships. you can have them write recommendations for you and it’s alway good to have someone on the inside rooting for you. that is all of my wisdom! good luck you’ve got this :)
