Yes you are absolutely right. This video is to familiarize ansys users how to use contact features and perform contact analysis. The example in this video is not verified against analytical solutions.

very good video. question: how can we create a very fine mesh around the contact point in particular?

Hi, I really appriciate your work, but i have to tell you that you had wrong results. In theory the Hertzian contact stress has a surface pressure and that is an ellipsoid surface. You can make it right in Ansys, but you cant leave contacts as default. You should use Pure Penalthy Method, and also setting a little Pinball Region. Be careful, if you defined a too small Pinball Region, Ansys wont be able to interpreted the Contact surface. Please, tell meg if you try it, I'm excited about the new results! ;)

But sir We will not give force as well as displacement at the same time, at a time we give either force or displacement at the selected section

Which contact should be used for helical gears ..contact or sepeation? How does this effect the analysis and stress values??

Thanks for the tutorial. I am working on a solid sphere in contact with 2 plates on the top and bottom. on the top plate there is force and I have fixed the bottom plate, the contact is bonded but the total deformation is kinda strange, any help or hint?

I think the tutorial has some imperfections. 1. The choice between contact and target surfaces seems to be opposite than what would be recommended. 2. For stress results one should use Lagrange formulation. The default setup with far too flexible augmented Lagrange definition is useless, especially for detailed contact pressure analysis. 3. The stress results shown seems unreliable, are they verified against analytical solutions?

Sir i also wanted to do analysis as in this video for contact stress but I am using full cylinder and sphere so where i have to apply load. I also interested to do dynamic analysis of coated substrate and indentor how can i do this in ansys . kindly inform and give me positive reply thank you

Hi sir, I am working on a similar static structural analysis to your's. However, mine is a cylinder on the top of the block rather than a half cylinder. I followed your steps and until I pressed solve, and all the "Solution" become cross. How do I put a force on the top of the cylinder? or it should be have different steps in previously? Many thanks!!
@Teachkart

If you are only interested in analysing the contact zone only, then you can put the body force in the cylinder instead of applying on top of it. Because contact stress wont be change as long as you give same force either in whole cylinder (body force) or on the top of it.

This is not right, you can't use bonded contact for Hertzian Contact. You should use '' Frictionless''.

you are absolutely right. The idea here in this video is to see how ansys can be used to perform the contact analysis.
