Kang needs an army because even with all of his ultra-futuristic weaponry, he is still just one man and one man can be overwhelmed by a force even if they are less technologically developed. Kang "appears" super-powerful because of his projected confidence, and that is why the Avengers (and the Fantastic Four and the X-Men) have all beaten him in the past. Kang would’ve won had he not have gotten greedy and tried to take his army with him. When M.O.D.O.K. destroyed his bubble, the ants swarmed him and disabled the tech on his suit. Also in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Janet tells Scott to not get stuck in a time vortex, which is what the ants were in, and allowed them to live that long

Though Kang is powerful, he is very egotistical which can sometimes be a flaw. I love that about his character. 56:25 Time works differently in the Quantum Realm according to what I've read. Remember Scott was there too for five hours but for everybody else was 5 years. So, the ants being there for 10 centuries it's not really surprising. I mean, Kang was also trapped there for over 30 years yet he doesn't look he has aged at all. And he comes from the 31st century, we do not know how many times he has travel back and forth.

Around the time of Quantumania, it’s 2025, and Endgame happened in late 2023. If Scott has just been parading around talking about the Blip, and not helping the displaced people problem that was in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, didn’t notice Shang-Chi’s bus fight in San Francisco, couldn’t see a San Francisco lawyer turn into She-Hulk & need help multiple times in that area, or try and not stop a giant celestial from destroying the planet by shrinking it, all while the heroes have, I wouldn’t have given Scott a pass either.

An article on Collider provides some history on the goats: "Known in the comics as Toothgrinder and Toothgnasher, these mystical goats are based on Tanngnjóstr and Tanngrisnir of Norse mythology. They first appear in 1976's Thor Annual Vol. 1 #5 amidst the War of the Gods. Primarily stationed at the helm of Thor's chariot, traveling him across realms, Toothgrider and Toothgnasher are insanely powerful beings. Powerful enough to damage Mjölnir at will. They can also each be reborn if they've been eaten, that is unless a bone has been broken in that process. So, they can be reborn if killed under very particular circumstances. Loki does, at a certain point in the comics, also magically resurrect Toothgnasher after War of the Realms. A thoughtful gift to brother Thor. At another point, Thor also instructs Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder to guard Mjölnir." The screaming was obviously comedy from the filmmaker (I have no idea if it was in the comics). I thought they were done brilliantly, but not everyone finds the same things funny and some people don't find anything funny. That's the nature of comedy.

We should’ve had more father daughter time with Cassie and Scott to build that storyline, as well as showing much more of kang and Janet’s time Together to build his character and personality. Keep in mind that if Scott was not released from the quantum realm by the storage rat, the Avengers would not have been able to go back in time. He LITERALLY was the reason half the world was saved. Why were the ants so big, I wonder, and how did they get down to subatomic sizes? (Ants would have to shrink down by a factor of a quadrillion to be in the subatomic realm.) How many shrink discs did they have when the went down to the quantum realm to have enough for an army of ants? Also, if Hank could get himself to a size where he could summon ants from outside the quantum realm and bring them in, why couldn't they just all leave once they got there? Especially if they had both discs and suits? They could have set their suits to Wombo!

Ah, MODOK, the first time I've ever seen anyone concussed into being a good guy (and no, he's not a real Avenger, Scott just played along to let him die in peace). Originally in the books, he was pretty mega-serious and a serious threat. About 10-15 years he got reworked into a more comedic character and it's been that way ever since

46:29 Kang doesn't actually have powers, he is just a normal human being. He's basically an evil Ironman from the future. It's all technology, and knowledge from the future. 48:19 No M.O.D.O.K. is a villain in the comic books, be he also isn't Darren Cross in the comicbooks either.

i dont know if this is where marvel is going with kang and thanos but i can tell you that thanos cannot die. and in the comics, thanos kills kang, takes his power than go back in time to young thanos and gives him specific instruction about who to kill and exactly when to make his plan work. Then, he kill all the entity. (Eternity, galactus, living tribunal etc.) and takes their power. thanos end up becomming the one above all and is now call astral regulator thanos. And only one caracther who has the power to stop him and its adam warloc. Now we met thanos, kang, eternity, and adam warloc. Looks like marvel is setting up.

When Kang asks, "You're not the 1 with the hammer" everyone assumes it's Thor, but forgetting that Captain America was rocking Thor's hammer Mjolnirn, and Cap did time travel through the Quantum realm. Most likely is Thor, just saying it's possible it could be Cap

Kang is definitely powerful, but he's just a normal human without his suit. And Modok sadly looks a lot like he does in the comics, lol. definitely one of Marvel's goofier villains, but the don't be a dick thing made me laugh. Far from the best marvel movie but still solid in my opinion. Great reaction guys keep up the good work.

The MODOK thing is something I don't get from most of the detractors. I understand the face looks stupid ridiculous. It does. But that's pretty much MODOK in a Live Action setting. He looks even worse in the comics. Would they have been happier if the face looked all deformed, as in SW's Snoke, or dark-side Emperor Palpatine (I mean, with the huge amount of deformity and skin wrinkles comic MODOK has)?

MODOK as he originally appeared was a much more menacing character. Yes, he is a giant floating head on a chair with little arms & legs. But he is powerful and menacing as we saw in his first few seconds on screen. Then they turned him into a joke like everything else in this film (except Kang). I agree Marvel has really dropped the ball lately on getting the rhythm of their humor. As you said, the goats in Thor: L&T, they should have followed the rule of three. That has been around since ancient times, once you tell a joke three times it isn't funny any more. They beat that joke into the ground. And then in this movie they just overloaded us with silly aliens. Broccoli people? There were too many to take seriously. It looked like someone saw the Star Wars cantina and decided to make it ridiculous. We didn't need more silly, by then we needed deadly seriousness. Especially if you are going to have Bill Murray in the scene, nothing else should be funny except his interaction with Janet. Anyhow, I agree, this wasn't the worst MCU movie and still better than other superhero films I have seen lately but its in the bottom 20% for me.

@Nikki & Steven React, Kang the Conqueror, the one in this movie, was the first to betray the others, as a result, he was branded an outcast, and imprisoned in a realm where time is the past, present and future--this Kang didn't know that, which explains why he asked Janet what the Quantum Realm was when they first met. You have to wonder if the other Kangs, the Council of Kangs, fully understood the place they imprisoned him. Still, they imprisoned him instead of killing him. Judging from their post credit scene discussion, it would seem that they didn't want him dead, but rather wanted to humble him, and put him timeout to calm down. Kang, by the way is human, he has no powers of his own. He was able to do what we saw in this movie because of his suit. When Janet helped him fix his craft, she gave him his powers back, which he was stripped of when he was banished to the Quantum Realm. Despite Kangs vast knowledge and power, he lacked the power to escape the Quantum Realm. I felt that he didn't kill the resistance because he sees himself as a benevolent person, but also because he needs followers to oversee his work when he's elsewhere, but more importantly, he needed to get out of the Quantum Realm. What good would it have done him to kill everyone and still be trapped inside? Janet, Hank and Scott know how to get out of the Quantum Realm, and he doesn't--"Just be grateful that I need you," Kang to Scott. He Who Remains (HWR) is the Kang that one, the one at the end of his career; the guy who ruled over all of time for a million lifetimes. HWR was the great manipulator who knew all, orchestrated all and perfected a time governing police force to protect his trophy, the TVA. The Kang we met in this movie is a Kang at the start of his career. He was powerful, sure, but he isn't all knowing, as we saw in this movie. He was driven and angry, which likely clouded his better judgement. The next Kang we come in contact with will very likely be a Kang further along much more dangerous and more powerful. The Council of Kangs tell us that the Kangs are still working together and that the Kang we saw die was the first to betray them all. As everyone in the Multiverse is living a scripted story, the others Kangs likely concluded that they would all eventually turn on one another. Which of the big Kangs is going to be the first to strike? Will this Kang be from the council we saw or one we haven't seen yet? We've already seen the one that won, but who was the guy before him, the one he outsmarted. Kang tried so hard to get out of the Quantum Realm, but I think that all Kangs will inevitably realize that the Quantum Realm is where they all want to be. The Kang we saw was wasting time, going to each universe destroying them one by one--how was he going to finish that task, when the Multiverse is vast and infinite? He kept talking about time and how much he had lost. He did tell Janet that he could make it as though Janet had never left Hope, so he had some form of time travel, but I don't think he had what the Avengers had in Endgame. The Quantum Realm is the nexus point between all realities in the Multiverse; it's everywhere and everywhen. For someone who wants to control all of time everywhere with a lifespan not long enough to accomplish a mission as ambitious as this, the Quantum Realm is a place you'd want to setup up shop in! Janet explained that the Quantum Realm is a universe of its own, and we know that Scott and Hank were in a different part of it--the subatomic regions. The TVA and the citadel at the end of time looked like they were in a part of the Quantum Realm too. Anyway, this Kang knew many things, but he didn't know how to escape the Quantum Realm. Scott, Hank, Hope and Janet know how to get in. Tony knew how to navigate it and Cassie just mapped it with a Hubble-like subatomic telescope--that's how she was able to find Scott and Hope as quickly as she did. She was talking about this at the start of the story. She said had she had this machine when Scott was lost, she would have been able to pull him out the moment he was lost. I don't know which Kang, but at least one of them is going to acquire this knowledge and use it to his own benefit and when the more among his variants. MODOK is not Darren Cross in the comics; he's someone else, George Tarleton. The MCU used Darren's incident to explain him. MODOK is a weird character, and if he was ever going to be part of the MCU, I think Darren's accident is the best way to do it. He looks just as ridiculous in the comics and he's the type of guy that you either love or hate. I don't think he's a silly, though I haven't read every MODOK comic--he's not my cup of tea either, Steven, though I did enjoy this interpretation of him. You've got to wonder, though, did we see the last of MODOK or will MODOK be a number two for all the Kang variants? The other Kangs could be a more serious threat, giving Kang fans something more like the comics. Kang doesn't need help, but I agree with others who've been saying that Kang likely leads to Doctor Doom, Galactus and the Silver Surfer. Alioth, the monster at the end of time from Loki was birthed from all the tears between realities. Will Galactus be a Celestial or a being beyond realities like Alioth?
